Do you hang out in a social group where majorty enjoy using he net as much as you?
just curious
|
i live in a house with four undergrads. when we're not communicating online we're talking about 'events' that have occurred online, or having sex with someone, or blasting the bands we love o' so much while having sex with someone.
me? i spend nights with my fender. we're 'connected'... and sad; it's the upper peninsula. |
They all enjoy it way more than me. I just post here while downloading albums or waiting for porn to d/l. That's really all I do on the internet anymore. Some people have made it their lives. Also, yeah, everyone's heavily into facebook, which seems lame as fuck -- no thanks.
|
Some are, some aren't. There are certainly different ways to "internet," like all this social networking. I don't have a strong enough cult of personality for a lot of that, also much of it is ridiculously banal.
|
The only reason I kinda want Facebook is to promote my videos and shit, but honestly..
1) if I ever got popular enough (which I won't), I could have someone run a Facebook for me (haha) 2) most of the people who would find it on Facebook wouldn't appreciate it and 3) The original deer who played Bambi was fired for being too obnoxious. |
this is a depressing topic, I have no friends.
|
the type of people who participate in beauty pageants don't have anything to say worth listening to
|
a lot of my friends probably use facebook more than me, or are at least updating their status more often (with nonsensical shit quizes).
It's a convienient application, but many use it in lame ways. |
Nobody other than fellow developers that stay at home all day and code away 10 hours at a time. Everyone else I know is either in university or working.
|
some do some don't.. use he internet as much as me.
|
I hate the internet.
|
i'm way more addicted to the internet than any of my friends. well, expect for maybe one of them. however, most everybody i know is on facebook.
|
Alot of mine just creep on FB and that's about it. And sometimes hit up teh j00tube.
|
the day I register for facebook is the day that I stab myself in the eyeballs with a rusty nail.
|
No.
|
None of my friends like the internet.
|
more so than my friends, but I've been online since 1991, and they are all catching up
|
are you serious, 91?
|
if you count hacking bbs boards over land lines, then I've been online since 1983.
|
Univetrsity of Houston was one of the first hubs on the net, outside of military and government stuff. I was a freshman in 1991, and went to the computer lab and got online at bbs's when it was all green text interfaces and shit. a few months later you could actuall download a picture! and it took forEVER!!!!!
flotz, that counts you phreek. |
I always forget that I'm not an amerikan....
|
I worked for Digital and we had a company wide Notes File where each subject had it's own audience. Sports, Sex, Work, Religion...
We got the internet in 86 |
the depressing fact is that out of the zillions friends that I have in real life, I can think of up to max 10 people who don't have facebook.

I don't know what to say... I recently deleted my facebook account. I can't believe how much I'm enjoying not having it. The longer I don't have it the more I realise how badly it was affecting me. |

wtf do you even do... like when you're online at that point. |
i use the net more than any of my friends, my computer is on nearly 24/7 downloading stuff but i only spend about 4 hours a day surfing, is that aot? i think i should take a break sometime but don't want to miss anything.

despite being well outisde the statute of limitations, I'm not sure how comfortable I am talking about it on a message board. that said, we made a lot of free phonecalls. |

I bet you're English. :) |

i have been too. in fact, i used to rack up HUGE internet bills... 300-400 dollars a month. my friends are also on the internets a lot. they may not do exactly what i do on the internet, but pretty close. we all are heavily on facebook and communicate that way most of the time. |
in the early days of the internet, you mostly had to stay within your ISP. it took too long to do anything else... and there wasn't much of anything else.

I love that line in Kill Bill Vol.1 when Uma Thurman meets for the first time Hattori Hanzo in the sushi bar.
Hattori asks Uma if she's English, and she replies with "almost". That line is as priceless as one of Hattori Hanzo's swords. |
yes.
if not more. |
Most are on more...and that's scary. Netspeak is now firmly entrenched in our vocabulary.

this is just like how we communicate i guess. it's fucking weird. to all go to this place that doesn't even exist and hang out and talk to each other. |
