I think I should have also specified that rich has nothing to do with it either.

in fact, personal experience teaches me that the poor seem to feel
even more entitled.

if I were to guess, I'd say it's a people problem.

hmm, interesting observation. i think it may be true. rich people often know the value of hard work. poor people seem to think that merely being human entitles them to certain comforts, such as food and a place to sleep.

floatingslowly 10.02.2009 02:48 PM

even back when I worked for a hotel chain many many years ago, the people who paid the lowest rate always expected (read: demanded) the most.

it's a sickness I tell you.

davenotdead 10.02.2009 02:48 PM

i feel like ridding the world of this sickness

floatingslowly 10.02.2009 02:49 PM

I love the way that
this fuckig phone fucks up my formatting.

obviously a piece of shit like this is far below my station.

pbradley 10.02.2009 02:49 PM

Well, if we're talking generalities, the rich feel entitled to the full extent of the profits they earn, moreso than anyone else.

maybe, but i know many min. wage people who hate FICA

knox 10.02.2009 02:54 PM

i sit and watch and enjoy americanized talk.

but i think every rich person has that sense.

Rob Instigator 10.02.2009 02:58 PM

rich people feel entitled because they know they are better than anyone else.

whether that is true or not.....

my quiestion is what about the article you posted has anything to do with President Obama feeling entitled?

an entitled person would have just demanded the olymoics, not worked hard to present a case to the IOC in person, for his old stomping grounds of chi-town.

davenotdead 10.02.2009 03:03 PM

the article is prolly bullshit rob. just did it for the lulz

Considering that their income constitutes a base cost of living and that their taxes have immediate ramifications upon their means to get-by, I'm more sympathetic to their concerns.

Rob Instigator 10.02.2009 03:22 PM

in my experience it is the poorer people who feel entitled to a certain degree of asskissing and brownnosing service whenevr they pay for anything. por white, poor black, poor hispanic, whatever. watch them eyeball you whe you are trying to make their sandwhich... . . ..

pbradley 10.02.2009 03:23 PM

Poverty also manifests as an insecurity of one's self-worthy. Egos naturally starve for respect.

Rob Instigator 10.02.2009 03:37 PM

truth.

plus, poor people get used to others ripping them off, or gipping them out of what they feel is theirs.

floatingslowly 10.02.2009 03:48 PM

I think that The Poor should be entitled to free soap.

I'm awfully tired of having to smell them.

Keeping It Simple 10.02.2009 04:17 PM

As it says in the bible: "And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God."

let them eat fried twinkies!

SuchFriendsAreDangerous 10.03.2009 01:50 PM

a good portion of black folks rich and poor alike feel entitled because they were so fucking absolutely disenfranchised for literally 400 years! Regardless of how much people today feel absolved, that much structured history affects the present and future, that much cultural baggage can not be abandoned at the drop of a hat..

the simple answer:

(1560s-1860s) combined with

1860s-1970s

The real question is why do people feel so threatened by black people feeling entitled and even black nationalism/power when there is clearly a debt in history? Is it that hard to face reality with a smile without getting defensive or bitter?
