::: Cat Power painting :::
Whacha think of this painting a friend of mine did based on a googled picture of Chan Marshall?
![]() Artist: Kris Nickmans Material: Acrylic paint on wood size: 1m70 x 1m06 Also online on the Cat Power site in the fan Photo section |
Acrylic? That is damn good man.
That's very photo realistic! cool.
I can fuck with some oils, but then again that with Acrylic's is off the hook. Def. could pass as oils with the work especailly on the lips.
how is that band anyway? any good?
I'd say.....beautiful really.
like what kind? punk? something else?
Some "punk" aesthetics but with gorgeous singing of a slightly off the wall/sometimes really in good spirits who herself is quite beautiful. Just listen and come with yr own conclusions. Some really don't like her, but I do. Steve was playing drums with her first backing band. Smells Like for life, suckas.

woah  thats amazing.. seeing things like that motivates me to go on painting :D that reminds me i still have two things to finish..
I have that T-shirt!
Rad painting really! |
ooooohhhh!
yeah it's so amazing!!
I love painting.... |
I would buy that.
Besides the fact that she looks dead, I think it's great. I haven't seen the photo so I don't know.
Beautiful.
Check out the detail on that acrylic. That's crazy, there's a lot of depth and vivid color to it, i think. Even though the colors aren't varied, but they look alive, like they breathe... Really good. :)
I'm serious about buying this.
I already bought it myself
it hangs beautifully on my red wall. |
Piss off. I am coming to Geel and stealing it.
That's really fucking good.

Yes. Good job. |
It's very nice.
It looks like it might've been projected on like a Chuck Close or that it might be a large print of the picture that's then been color-matched (very well) & painted over for that hyperrealistic effect. It may have been one photo that was gridded off into sheet sized sections even & all of it has now been painted over successfully, & that's why it's painted on wood. something like masonite would have also worked to be sturdy enough to glue down the initial grids of sheet sized pieces of the photograph. Or at the very least, the artist must have employed grids to assist in freehand. & that's nothing against the artist. i'm just trying to reveal a little about how it was perhaps created. painters have been using whatever forms of technology were available to them for a long, long time. |
Very realistic. You have a lot fo talent.

Why steal it when you can have Power Cat? I've been working on this masterpiece all day. ![]() This drawing made me realize how beautiful of a girl she really is. |

No, not really...I was just saying that I don't remember even posting it last night at 5:21 AM because I drank and took a bunch of pills.
