Where will you be in 5 years...?

 Where do you see yourself in 5 years from now .....in terms of life, career, or relationship goals? Or whatever aspirations in life you think are important.

Kannibal 11.05.2009 05:33 PM

Maybe, maybe not. Most people with half a brain eventually get around to thinking about their own destiny. Some things are within your realm, some things are predestined. Those who live in the here-and-now will have to grow up at some point.

my half a brain does not want to spoil the surprise.

whatever i wanted to be doing now that i had planned has changed.

all the changes were for the best.

when i was younger i used to think that making long term plans would help and prevent things. i was wrong.

so the more i grow up, the more i want to keep an open mind about everything.

and that way i guess less anxiety, frustration and more happiness.

so before you use your patronizing tone, you might wanna consider that people are different.

for me, the planning approach doesn't work. I am much too spontaneous and dynamic. The best things that have ever happened to me were by surprise and I think that is because I am not afraid of change and I can spot opportunities.

I feel too confined and unhappy within the boundaries of plans, instead I dream of unexpected changes. which happen to me all the time.

the less fear i have, the less plans i have the more good things happen to me. i like it like that.

the more i grow up the more i learn to live with uncertainties.

yes this.

drunk and rich will be fucking good too.

i wanted to write here and boast of my awesome goals but then i remembered that my jinx policy does not allow me to reveal my evil plans to the general public, for in the hands of others such dreams will be jinxed and consequently foiled.

how about some fake ones then:

coked out & aneurysm-damaged

or

derelict in the streets, smoking cigarette butts picked from the sidewalk

or

body discarded, personality uploaded to the interwebs

floatingslowly 11.05.2009 06:49 PM

you said I'd wake up, get drunk
alone in the park
I called you a liar
but how right you were

air-conditioned TV land
twenty-grand walk to the bank
with shakes from the night before
starin' at tikki-floor

high-school wedding-ring
keys are under the mats
of all the houses here
but not the motels

I try to sing it funny, like Beck
but it's bringing me down
lower than ground
beautiful ground

beautiful ground

I'll still be listening to grandaddy in 5 years

All I want in 5 years is inner peace.
I live in the here-and-now because tomorrow I may be DEAD.

To peg me as patronizing is a naive assumption. So I don't realize that people are different? Duh. You don't even know me.
You totally jump on something that is just a FUCKING QUESTION.

Take it easy, knox. I'm not attacking anybody. Jesus.

then your thread and your reply to my post don't make much sense, but it's cool, i don't mind. you are sort of contradicting yourself, but it's ok, we all do that.

keeping it simple - you must like that song in order to like me.

Well, I guess 5 years is too long to give a shit about. I just meant, isn't there something you would like to improve about your life or your situation?
1. I don't consider my question and reply a contradiction. I consider it a grey area.
2. I am not telling people how they should and should not feel. I've been here off and on since 2001. I've listened to many boardies reflect about past regrets and hopes and aspirations for their future.
