btw the reason i'm pissed is because we aren't given a choice/freedom. isn't america supposed to be about freedom and the right to CHOOSE? i simply don't need health insurance. so why should i have to pay for it? good luck getting your greedy paws on my money, pigfuckers.

More or less all European countries have free health care, so it's not the same everywhere. I was reading about that dude from Twin Stumps who got badly beaten up in Brooklyn for a few bucks and a mobile phone, and now he's facing a $ 100.000 bill for all the medical costs. Outfuckingrageous.

Paying for health insurance has been a must in my country since we switched to capitalism (which was in 1989). Everybody except the unemployed registered at the job search agency have to pay this every month. And I don't think it's a bad idea.

As I understand it the US has decided to follow the UK's lead with it's own take on National Insurance contributions.

think about how much of our tax money already goes to bullshite. i'd prefer they take a little extra to actually help myself and others in my community out...you know, rather than support more genocides.

My road tax comes from someone else's salary. I have an agreement with the local council whereby I hover about an inch above the pavement whenever I leave the house until I arrive at my destination, unless it's a council building. Meanwhile, my taxes go to fluffy bunnies and kittens.

i'm not trying to sound harsh, but you've been pretty open on this forum about yr heavy drug usage. what would happen if you were to overdose? okay, i understand that you might not want to be taken to the hospital, and that's fine. i also tend to hate doctors. but think about all the people out there who would. people's who's reasons for living dangerously are not due to free choices.

I think you ought to do your research a little better than reading the Daily Mail every day, since the the return to state-run health (and non-health, for that matter) schemes is something that exists in Europe in larger measures than the UK, but is very present in the UK nevertheless.

Or, you may get hit by a bus and not have a choice about being taken to the hospital. Who ends up paying? Everyone.

It called 'the common good'. People looking out for each other in a financial way. Individually, health insurance is expensive. Collectively, where lots of healthy people subsidize a few sick people, it becomes much cheaper for all of us. And then, when your time comes around, then you get the benefits.

Having said all that, I'm wishing for socialized medicine. (and a return to greater gov't control over, well, largely everything that's been privatized since Raygun).

Haven't seen the movie but I think capitalism has come to the end of its usefulness. Greed rules the day.
