ha yes i did. its overuse by annoying twats on the train drives me mad.

EVOLghost 01.28.2010 12:27 AM

I must admit that I am an overuser of that word....

amerikangod 01.28.2010 01:09 AM

Awesome is an awesome word. Pretty much as awesome as cowabunga, tubular, tubuloso, and mondo.

Least favorite phrase is 'keeping it simple.'

EVOLghost 01.28.2010 01:33 AM

Hey wait those words aren't....oh I get it...

phoenix 01.28.2010 02:34 AM

I say awesome probably 10 times a day. Maybe this means I should cut back. Last fortnight I got asked if I was.. american? by someone who clearly doesn't hear the OZ in my voice. I only have sympathetic american speach, if I'm talking to one, my vowels tend to change, it just happens and it's horrid..

_slavo_ 01.28.2010 03:46 AM

"like" all the way

Crumb's Crunchy Delights 01.28.2010 06:03 AM

i hate it when people say "get yr leg outta my life"

overused for sure

EVOLghost 01.28.2010 02:00 PM

^ I don't think I've ever heard that phrase....

deflinus 01.28.2010 02:04 PM

'diz guy'

what the hell is that? i don't get why people say that

Glice 01.28.2010 02:11 PM

'Literally' gets on my nerves. I likely said that last time.

automatic bzooty 01.28.2010 02:51 PM

"real talk"

context: gurrrrl you know he ain't worth it, REAL TALK.

"No homo"

I am very guilty of saying "awesome" and "like" too much.

Rob Instigator 01.28.2010 03:46 PM

I hate "like"

I hate that out of all valley girl slang, this "like" bullshit is what stuck.

I especially hate it when opeople are trying to tell a story and instead of
"I told him no, and the he yelled at me, and so I left."
they say
"I was all like, "no" and he was like, all yelling, like, mad or something, and so I was all like, "I'm leaving."

pbradley 01.28.2010 03:47 PM

Ha ha, "real talk." My friends from San Jose would say that, or the variant "street talk."

pbradley 01.28.2010 03:48 PM

Anyway, I don't mind really any colloquial idioms or phrases all that much.

I never hear the OZ in yr typing.

'Back in the day' gives me the irrits. However, I do use it in an ironic (I hope) fashion.

Shit rhetorical questions. Rhetorical questions, yes. Shit ones, no.

This above is sort of floundering in an insight-less indignance, with neither pithy sarcasm nor righteous bile to anchor it to the shore of meaningful criticism.

I'll tell you what else pisses me off - that words like 'indignance' apparently qualify as obsolete. I'M USING IT NOW, ONLINE DICTIONARY, HOW CAN IT BE OBSOLETE IF I'M USING IT?

ooh, yeah. especially "back in MY day..."

Genteel Death 01.28.2010 05:58 PM

Sure you are all talking about the attitude behind those words or phrases, and not their potential of being annoying per se?

Genteel Death 01.28.2010 06:01 PM

Barmy

SONIC GAIL 01.29.2010 10:09 AM

Like, i can't choose between like and my bad. Ya know like it's so cool to like use the word like.

I think you meant to add "my bad" somewhere in there, no?

SONIC GAIL 01.29.2010 12:56 PM

Oh sorry,...my bad.

SuperCreep 01.29.2010 01:07 PM

I went with "don't take this the wrong way, but" because it's always going to be taken the wrong way.

"Like" is godawful too. It pains me when I see prospective teachers in my field use it. Fucking hell, you're going to be an educator, develop a goddamn vocabulary.

fucking TRUTH

automatic bzooty 01.29.2010 01:22 PM

"no offense, buuuut..." YOU'RE ABOUT TO BE OFFENDED.

pbradley 01.29.2010 01:48 PM

Sometimes I can become very bothered by "up-speak."
