Not enough time to listen to music!!!

I work 9 hours a day, and this doesn't leave me enough time. I'm sure there is a lot I am missing musically. I would also like to read more...:( What to do? I'm 27, my parents can't support me anymore. At one time I was using my headphones at work, but I can't anymore, because I work in a team and it doesn't look good.

chrome noise tape 03.12.2010 09:05 AM

left home for experience.

floatingslowly 03.12.2010 09:13 AM

my minions are used to me sighing, pushing stop and barking WHAT?!?

I've often considered making them stand and wait until the song's over.

:o

I want to answer every line of this post, one by one. I would say you were King Troll but I know you are genuine.

I shall be keeping a close eye on you matey boy.

Pookie 03.12.2010 09:23 AM

But to answer one point: get new parents. What's their chuffing problem not wanting to support their grown up child.

You may be 27 and want the dignity of not leeching off of your parents for the rest of your life but they don't know that.

Wear some of these and see if your team doesn't think you look good. (Get your tightwad parents to fork out for once).

We're all missing a lot musically. We're also all hurtling towards death and could probably do with a bit more exercise (to hold the inevitable off for a bit longer). Accentuate the positive. Go for a run with your new fancy headphones.

That's an easy one. Read more.

Read shorter books if that helps.

Some people on here just read comics. They whizz through them (lots of pictures - it's a trick see?).

floatingslowly 03.12.2010 09:37 AM

I'll have you know that I read comics for the stories!

radarmaker 03.12.2010 09:48 AM

Stop listening to Oasis & The Verve.

even like the 17:27 of "Sister Ray"? or the 1.316 seconds of "You Suffer" from Napalm Death ?

floatingslowly 03.12.2010 11:55 AM

oh man! I don't have the 17+ version of Sister Ray. want. :(

they aren't forced to listen because I use headphones.

my headphones are always in my ears (even on my ID badge). it's the universal language for "leave me alone".

floatingslowly 03.12.2010 11:58 AM

ps: I'm taking the rest of the day off to listen to music!

first up is Dangermouse vs Sparklehorse. :(

my problem is, depending on the song, I'm often compelled to start it over if interupted.

last week, I listened to song Lust by The Raveonettes, 13 times in a row.

thankfully, right now, I'm in my garage and couldn't possibly be disturbed.

I am guilty of listening to a song over and over just cause I like it so much and especially when I am interupted.

perhaps it's borderline OCD, perhaps I just love the song Lust that much; I'd gladly trade the feeling for a 37 minute version of Sister Ray.

the minions listen to CRAP. I've been tempted to try to fix that, but I do my best to maintain some semblance of normalcy.

besides, most people find the music I like "boring". I'm ok with that. I am too. :) I like it slow, spacey, fuzzed out and ripping off the Jesus & Mary Chain ripping off The Beach Boys. my eyes roll back...

SONIC GAIL 03.12.2010 01:57 PM

Everyone around me listens to crap. THe crappiest of crap.

think you are OCD

Talk to ya next week I am outa here and heading home to the country

Yall have a good weekend ya hear

floatingslowly 03.12.2010 02:01 PM

I'm fixin' ta spend the day playing grand theft auto and feasting on jalapeno chick'n fried steak.

la buena vida.

phoenix 03.12.2010 02:25 PM

my music time has been close to 0 in the last year or so. Car trips are never taken alone which = no phoenix music (or i'm only allowed a certain fraction of the volume other people are allowed so i've given up even trying to enjoy) train trips, which is about the only half hour i really get and at times even that is not enjoyabale due to train plebs. Music doesn't happen it home, which kills me.

Don't have any suggestions.. Get a new job if it bothers yot so much?

knox 03.12.2010 02:40 PM

i hum to myself

Keeping It Simple 03.12.2010 03:15 PM

You're not missing much, playeru. Music has been in the doledrums since The Beatles split.
