Why do a lot of ppl hate this album?

I was just listening to it wondering the same thing. I love it, though I usually skip over winner's blues and self obsessed...I remember the day I got it, my girlfriend surprised me when I was working on drive thru at Wendy's. The vinyl came out before the cd, and she found a copy for me.

At first I didnt reall y like this album, but now I love it. I bought it right away for Bull In the Heather then songs like Bone and Starfield Road opened me up to it all of the way. That has to be one of the best album titles in music history!

I wish I had a Zoo Music Girl*like that.

winners blues is deff my favourite song on that album (apart from sweet shine of course)

Sweet Shine is really mature for EJTNS, but Bone is probably the best song on that album besides Bull.

I always skip Winners Blues, always. Androgynous Mind and Tokoyo Eye are great songs.

Winner Blues is one of the best songs on the album. I don't dislike this album, but it definitely isn't my favorite. Although, to be honest, I don't think I've given it enough of a chance.

I think just because it was a ninties record. The 90's are looked at by some people on this board as SY's "selling out" decade, they hate "Dirty" and "EJSTNS", I still say most of the people on this board got into SY through "Dirty" and "100 %" but many will say they've been listening to them since "Daydream Nation" or better yet, "Sister". Hmmm....

I can't get away with that lie. I wasn't even alive when Daydream Nation came out.

i listened to the album before falling asleep last night. some of the songs im not crazy about. but overall a good album

My favorite SY CD - I've said it a million times. Bone is my least favorite track, not because it isn't a good song - I just don't like it much. Sweet Shine bothers me because of the obnoxious thing at the very end. Other than that, there's absolutely nothing I don't like about it.

You do know that you don't have to listen to the end of Sweet Shine, right? :p

Ha, ya but I always forget I'm listening to it, and then realize I've been listening to 2 minutes of silence as a random siren snaps me out of it. Not an enjoyable experience. I like the song, just not that it has that end part.

You can edit it with something like Audacity, and burn the CD.

I know. I'm just saying, if that's the worst part about the CD, it's a damn good one.

I'm gonna have to give it some more listens. I really hated Skink. I remember that about it. But other than that, I have kind of forgot about the album. I'll have to listen today.

Ha ha.....I love all that crazy crap that would be at the end of a lot of the albums from the 90's a la the madness at the end of A Day in the Life.

The riff from Androgynous Mind was ripped off from Babes in Toyland. Listen to Ripe, you'll hear it.

I seem to remember them opening with Skink at a show I saw in 95. I always thought that was a great 'deep cut'.

I don't dislike Winner's Blues, I just skip it to get to the rock.

I enjoy it. Sweet Shine and Winner's Blues are often the only songs that I listen to, really. I need to listen to the whole album again.

Its not a terrible album, but its definitely one of my least favorite SY albums. I just think that aside from Bull in the Heather and possibly Sweet Shine, most of the tracks seem like outtakes from some other album that was never released. Its hard to explain, but I just get that "b-side" feel when I listen to a lot of the tracks. Decent songs, but not among their best.

Hate it. One of the worst SY albums.

this album is'nt my favorite, but it was my first sonic youth cd..so i have a lot of fond memories with it.
Androgynous mind is my favorite song on the album.
