Rastafari is a diverse community, with a lot of mansions. You are thinking of Italists, common with the Nyahbinghi Order or the Bobo Shanti-I communities, I-man hail up from the Ethiopian World Federation, Charter 37 via the Twelve Tribes of Israel California House, we are fairly 'christianized' in our community in regards to dietary restrictions. Though I did not drink for the nearly 8 years InI was a locksman but these days with the clean trim I-man drink the fruit of the vine.. in regard to meat, I only eat meat 80 days of the year, cut me some slack Mr Rastafari doctrine police ;)
Generally Rastafari do not sip Cognac but it was a favorite of the Jahnoy the Emperor Haile I

seen. I am professionally trained in historic writing/research and field work, so I am also a natural Rastafari archivist/historian aside from my formal training in Ethiopian studies. I can tell you the history of Rastafari over a good pot of coffee and some pot (pun intended) but it would be far too many words to type and would be less fun then having the actual and mutual converstation.

But Rastafari oldest official mansion is the Ethiopian World Federation, founded by Haile Selassie in 1937 when HIM was in exile in London, and it is the foundation for ALL other legitimate Rastafari mansions, and is the only way any Rastafari mansions can claim in any way a tangible connection to the Emperor, either as a founder or as having any direct line of communication, it all came from the EWF. I am now part of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church, because HIM directly sent Bishops and Priests through th EWF into Trinidad, JA and New York for the explicit purpose of Ethiopianizing we Rastafari communities, and like all faithful baptists converts (all Rastafari were good Baptists and Anglicans before the 1920s, we share this background even today) I converted fully to Orthodoxy, hence my new name, Habte Selassie. There are tens of thousands of us Rastafari i-dren bearing Ethiopian names ;)
