My silly story about my kid
 

My boy is a 7 year old die hard skatboarder. Had one since birth. He is into the "sorry" skate video Ryan has it starts with Iggy pop and the stooges " now I wanna be yr dog". My son LOVES this song so much he asked me to record him a CD. Which I did. So he decides he wants to sing and dance to this song at the talent show. Well I think nothing wrong of it. I sign him up and scribble out the lyrics for the PTA approval. he practiced for hours and then I recieve this e-mail:


I really hate to do this, but there are some concerns with playing this song at talent show. Is there any other song he can do? I know this is last minute, but the PTO board feels like this song would be inappropriate to play.

I don't think Bryceville is ready for Iggy. We said screw the talent show. I am sure that sexually sugestive lyrics from todays female pop stars will do just fine for the cuntry folk. However, I can probably look foward to some nice looks from the PTA folk when I pick up my kid.

That bites. It would've been awesome if he could've done it, especially at that age. How'd he take not being allowed to sing it?

THat's why we said screw the talent show. He just wanted to dance to iggy. He wasn't that upset. I just felt really bad because he was practicing so much. It was so cute. Would have been SO cool blowin em away with actual music.

Nah he was just singing along. He learned nearly every word and doing some spasmatic 2nd grader dance he created combined with a form of what he calls break dancing. It was quite humerous he could have won. I was gonna punk him up and everything.

I'm shocked but at the same time, I'm not. At least you have the knowledge that your kid is cooler and more intelligent that fucking 50-year-old school board idiots with all the vicoden they can swallow to numb the pain from the fifty dildos they have to have jammed up their asses just to have an unsatisfying orgasm and then fall over snoring.

You are all great!!!!!!!!!!!!! living in these surroundings you cannot help but doubt yrself at times. In the very back of my mind thoughts like"I am a bad mother for exposing him to such mature shit" but I am not my kid knows what reality is like and will be ten times more prepared to make it on his own. But from yall I get positive feed back and brings me back to more rational thinking. Fuck them. I have lived in this same spot for my entire life. Most of them are townies that came when they started plowing down the woods and setting up rural versions of subdivisions. They wanted to live in the country.

I think you owe it to your son to protest. He did the work he deserves to be in the show. The fact that he's cool with it shouldn't keep you from doing something. Send a letter to the editor of the paper or a columnist on the paper who stands up for the little guy. Rattle their cages for the sake of your son. As everybody has said your son is wicked cool now further his education by showing him to stand up for himself.

I did write a very nice/sarcastic e-mail back. I like the president she's a good teacher. She was Gavin's teacher in kindergarten. I think it had more to do with the stuck up there own ass members of the board. Ryan has totally taught him the value of standing up for yrself. They're skate dudes they don't take no shit. he did deserve to be in it. he is preparing for a volcom wild in the streets am skate contest coming to kona in August. he stoked about that. Ryan's been teaching him how to do tricks. He can olly and shove it and he's tryin for small ledges and rails now.

I've seen skaters who never seem to fall off, making me think they're good. Kids who constanly fall off are clearly crap at it and should take up flower arranging or something else instead.

Ryan has skated for about 22 years now so we know what it's about and who's good or not. I know gavin is not pro material at this point but he has the motivation, style and talent to be there one day. This first contest was just to teach him what the contest scene is about. Like I have said before he's only 8. He competed with kids nearly twice his age and did not give up. He was the only kid his age to even make it through the entire heat. And even though he did not win he had fun. The most fun he has ever had. He even charmed the photographer. I was later told by the photographer to make sure I check the web site cause he took a lot of pics of him during the heat.
@symbol can't see the link right now I'm on my blackberry and videos are shit on this thing but I am not some ignorant mom dressing him in tony hawk clothes prayin hell be the next Ryan Sheckler. That is not "real" skateboarding. Its the ONLY athletic anything I watch so.
