I'm afraid to listen to the new stuff. I loved LP1, hated LP2. I dunno.....

Skuj 06.30.2010 11:46 PM

I mean, it's a fuckin concept album, innit?

automatic bzooty 07.01.2010 12:05 AM

i've been underwhelmed by the recent AF tracks. i don't know if that's because of their quality or mine.

Skuj 07.01.2010 12:11 AM

Holy fuck, I just listened to track 1 at npr and it grabbed me right away - very pleasantly surprised. It flowed, Man. Everything that Neon Fucking Bible wasn't.

Skuj 07.01.2010 12:25 AM

Meh, track 10 has a bit of throwaway quality to it, but I don't hate it. Maybe it really works as track 10 though.

atsonicpark 07.01.2010 01:46 AM

Is this band pretty popular? They're pretty decent for a popular band. I could never see myself sitting down and actually listening to one of their boring ass albums again, but I thought Funeral was pretty cool. It's pleasant enough stuff.

TheFoxBen 07.01.2010 02:10 AM

I've listened to a few tracks from the album and wasn't really blown away by these... They were pretty much ok, except for "Month of May" which I think is a really cool song and at least, it's something different.

davenotdead 07.01.2010 02:11 AM

guys. listen to the new Books album. its amazing

FreshChops 07.01.2010 03:45 AM

Funeral has a nice sound / nice production. I haven't listened to much newer from them. let's see.....

Skuj 07.25.2010 01:18 AM

Reviews are starting to trickle in. BBC thinks it is OK Computer, hahaha. Has this leaked yet? I dunno.....I'm very hopeful.

automatic bzooty 07.25.2010 02:43 AM

it leaked yesterday i think

i haven't downloaded it

RanaldoNecro 08.05.2010 10:24 PM

neon Bible wasn't that bad. Intervention is a great track. Neon Bible ok as well. I could do without Body is a Cage...

I could do without the fake french accent

EVOLghost 08.05.2010 10:28 PM

neon bible is okay. Funeral is awesome. haven't listened to the new one yet. but....I live stream on youtube right now!

EVOLghost 08.05.2010 10:29 PM

oh yeah and ready to start is pretty cool.

exploding plastic candle 08.21.2010 07:49 PM

okay I'm reviving this thread I want to see what you guys actually think. I think half the songs (the suburbs, modern man, we used to wait, ready to start etc) are brilliant and the rest are kinda snoozers

TheFoxBen 08.21.2010 08:16 PM

The record is definitely not as good as everyone says... I absolutely LOVE some of the songs on here (Month of May, Empty Room, Modern Man) but the album is

1) too long
2) has too much filler, especially in the end
3) doesn't have one single song as good as the worst song on Funeral.

So yeah, I would rate it a low 3/5. I haven't lost all hope in Arcade Fire yet... Next album, maybe...

auto-aim 08.21.2010 08:59 PM

they're like one of these bamds i dont bother with... too much buzz.. thoguh i made this mistake with battles and recently discovered how good they are; However, any band that is getting a lot of talk 9s susceptible t5o a lot of bullshit. people don't know what they're talking about. i agree with some SOIME sentiments here thogh.

Norma J 08.22.2010 12:37 AM

Pretty great album cover. Off first track alone, sounds really cool too.

I think it is a very very good album, with the best opening 2 songs....evar!!!

There are 3-4 songs here that could have been left out. But the other 12-13 are BRILLIANT imho.

I think the cheesy instrumentation for Sprawl II is ironic. It's almost elevator music backing.....but it's a fantastic song anyway, hahaha....

Skuj 08.28.2010 01:27 PM

Anyway, I'm back to loving AF, after hating Neon Fucking Bible. They are not preaching on this, or trying too hard.

Oh Man, the first 2 tracks though.....blows me away. And the remainder of the album doesn't exactly tail off from that.

The reprise at the end actually makes sense and sounds great. I think lyrically this is a very good album, although I've heard many state the opposite.

"If I was I scared, I would, and if I was pure, you know I would, and if I was yours, but I'm not."

THAT'S JUST FUCKING BRILLIANT.

Skuj 09.02.2010 01:14 AM

Fuck me, why don't You People understand how great this record is?

It's just like Joanna Newsom all over again.

Sheesh!

Skuj 09.02.2010 01:17 AM

  1. "The Suburbs"
  2. "Ready To Start"
  3. "Modern Man"
  4. "Rococo"
  1. "Empty Room"
  2. "City With No Children"
  3. "Half Light I"
  4. "Half Light II (No Celebration)"
  1. "Suburban War"
  2. "Month of May"
  3. "Wasted Hours"
  4. "Deep Blue"
  1. "We Used to Wait"
  2. "Sprawl I (Flatland)"
  3. "Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains)"
  4. "The Suburbs (Continued)"
Makes for great 2LP vinyl, not sure if they did this or not.

Fuck, there's so many great tunes on this.

I haven't heard The Suburbs yet, but I'm looking forward to it. I'm with you on the Newsom though. More people here need to get how amazing HOOM really fucking is.

Skuj 09.14.2010 01:26 AM

And how fuckin great The Suburbs is too. I gave up on promoting the monumental merits of HOOM here. The Suburbs may follow suit. Give them 5 years maybe?
