Thanks. I actually have a bunch of SY stuff on there. Starting with the 2008 Battery Park Show - then the 2009 Apple Store performance - and then the one in Brooklyn. There is the NEU! stuff too. |
Are you a relation of Oliver Cromwell?

So, this is seriously the first question that springs to your mind? You say the shit most are kinda thinking anyways, but realize asking just makes them sound a bit too stupid and a bit too obvious...so they refrain from saying anything. But you sir, you get the cake. You go where most don't feel the need or want. keep on keepin' it simple. |

Are you his fucking spokesman? |
Quote:
Point taken. |
No - not Oliver (but I'm a younger doppelganger of James) ;)
|
Oh, well as long as you are not that 'evil genoicide, worse than hitler, irish killin, cromwell.
LOL |

A little testy there this morning KIS? What'd you catch a fly doing the backstroke in your cherrios? |
Nice work Dave!

Take solace in the fact that he died of malaria at the age of only 59 years. Quote:
Thanks. Though now I'm reading jennthebenn's analytical musings on the intricate details of the bands music (via her blogs) and am duly impressed. |
This is sweet as homewmade apple pie

+1 I find myself always watching those MBV vids too |

Oliver was a great man. So great in fact Elvis Costello wrote a song about him called "Oliver's Army". |
Quote:
Thank you. May I have my schoolroom lunch at your table? Quote:
The one's I put up? Sweeet! Quote:
So the English think he was a great leader - and the Irish believe him to be an evil oppressor. I suppose he was a bit of both then. Depending on your point of view. |
Dave is welcome at my table anytime
|
Oliver was a great man.
My point of view is that Keeping it Stupid knows little to make comments about this man. Maybe she likes Saddam Hussein, Stalin and Pol Pot too. Why not? They are just misunderstood. |

Who can hate a man who conquered Ireland? The Irish always deserve a kicking. William of Orange is another great man. |
This is why we never discuss politics or religion at Thanksgiving dinner...

Or the Great Pumpkin. |

The point is - I am blown away by the combined precision and creative musings of Jennthebenn's writing. ;) |

Such praise warms the cookies of my heart! |

It's well deserved. I have been carefully reading your blogs all week. The information therein is a veritable treasure trove. Quote:
Lol! Snoopy knows. So (not seeing anywhere else to put this) Who else watched this: http://www.vbs.tv/watch/soft-focus-a...thurston-moore I liked Thurston's and Kim's answers - but wasn't particularly impressed with the interviewer. |
it was all right, there's another thread on this few topics down. about that plane crash: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Munich_air_disaster
best part was when they were talking about the Cramps, the one that went nowhere was the leaders question (needlessly provocative the way he worded that question and then bringing up Mussolini). |

Thanks. I found it now http://www.sonicyouth.com/gossip/showthread.php?t=39291 Quote:
Tragic. Quote:
Yeah, that was good. Thurston made the whole interview by carrying it. Kim bailed early and I thought the interviewer wasn't particularly engaging. Quote:
Agreed. He just seemed to have a real lazy approach to this interview. |
Both of you missed the point of this interview altogether. I am sure if he came out and said something Kim would say something like "What makes you assume that" or "Its just a media construct" or "false stereotype". So the interviewer played to that level, and the whole thing became flat with awkward silences.
Rapid fire, Larry King, point and shoot questions wouldn't act with Moore. Its more about following someones wits than 'cornering them'. Think of this interview like a dance, that both parties have to follow as oppossed to 'a kill'. Matching wits with Thurston would be a battle enough. |
Quote:
So . . . "flat with awkward silences" was the point? Quote:
I understand that tactic. Quote:
I certainly wasn't endorsing any kind of "kill". Just didn't expect that kind of ramble. I think the presenter is quite impressed with himself. :p Quote:
Thurston seemed rather agreeable to converse in a relaxed and non-confrontational manner. So, perhaps the interviewer did a "good job" after all. :) |
So . . . "flat with awkward silences" was the point?
Maybe, these are artists, I don't understand them either. Silencing is deafening |
Quote:
Well, the interviewees are artists. The individual doing the questioning - his "art" seemed to be that video intro of himself in many different poses :p Quote:
Remember when silence = death Ah, nostalgia . . . |
hey dave!
