Motherfucking ace! I try my best to be there. Oh fucking yes. |
One of the best bands I've ever seen. Really talented, strange individuals.

Just bought my ticket. £12.50 for 8 bands! And I've always fancied visiting Cambridge. |
Darn...no Cardiff date. I heard that there was going to be one as well. I imagine I'll travel to either the Bristol gig or the London one. Actually I might do both.
I'd also love to see them in Berlin...they are playing a really ace little venue that would be amazing but that's a bit much. |
11-09-06 Fluc Vienna (Aus)
best announcement in ages! |
yes! best live band ever.
|
What are they like?
|
So today in England. Anybody seen them on this tour? Can't wait till 11th Sep. I would pay more than € 30 to see this, but i don't have to, cause the fluc never demands anything. I hope there's not too much crowd.

22-08-06 Conway's Pub Dublin (Ire)
found out about this one lat nite!!! seemingly there was about 40 people at it, and about half of em knew who sunburned hand were!!!. gutted i missed out on it! |
aarh, you have my sympathy
|
Yes, I saw them in Bristol at Seymours Family club. It was pretty good but they were opening for A Hawk and a Hacksaw and only played about 35 minutes. Both bands were really good though. Actually, Sunburned seemed slightly rusty but still good....I think I heard them say it was the first time they played together in about 3 months in that configuration and it was a small line up. Rob Thomas, Moloney, Michael K and maybe Ron Schneiderman...but I'm never exactly sure.
I am going to see them in London tomorrow as well though. |
Thanks. I'm thinking of going to the Paradiso show.
|
thanks for bumping this in time...
(at least as far as i am concerned) |
:( aww.
|
Sunburned played an hour in Cambridge last night, and I've not been so excited by a live show in ages. I still have ones of their jams going round in my head this morning, and its welcome to stay as long as it likes. Very nice people too.
|
I just reserved my ticket for the Tampere show, they're being supported by none other than Circle.
Now I only hope the school doesn't cause anything that would prevent me from going. |
12.09. Zagreb. If I miss, I go dead...
|
I'll be seeing SHOTM and Circle tonight, and you're not!
:fuckyou: |
Have a great time phlegmmy. I'm sure you will.
By the way, Chris Corsano played with them when I saw them, and he won't be when you do! :fuckyou: :fuckyou: ;) |
and I have a yellow bicycle and you don't.
|
i'm seeing haino tonight and i saw sbotm last week!
|
last week I got to see shotm twice and this week I'll be seeing two lee ranaldo performances!
|
Sunburned were totally uncanny, thoroughly one of the best things I've ever seen, maybe the best even. The stage was full of all kinds of crap from severed limbs of a fashion mannequin to sticks and pots. They were banging them in a manner that seemingly had no direction but then a song of repeating rhytms and percussions grew out of it. The band also were doing quite traditional rock tunes, which were time to time a bit boring, but the percussive randomness and crazed-out singer/drummer/whatever saved a lot.
I bough a load of their albums and cd-rs and chatted awhile with them, nice guys too. Circle on the other hand were a mere disappointment. Probably for the same reasons T&B mentioned in that other thread. Their set was biased on the kraut-heavy metal side of theirs, which didn't exactly fit the musical context of the night. They started out with an intro that built up into rhytmic noise and ended the set with a heavy as fuck stoner -ish song. Those were ace but during the middle section of the set, which was the same they've been playing throughout the year, apparently, it started to get a bit boring. I feel bad bitching about this, because Circle is a band not capable of mediocrity and compered to all the other bands (except shotm, obviously) they still were really fucking great. This might be the most interesting thing though... Before the gig, probably right after the soundcheck the bands were improvising together, and did it for quite a long time. I saw maybe the last 20 mins. of this, but few of my friends sat through the whole thing and were amazed by it. According to them it was better than anything later that night. Apperently it was recorded, and who knows if it'll be released someday... |
yesterday in helsinki, brilliant!
after the normal gig they played soundtrack to the ira cohen film 'invasion of the thunderbolt pagoda', it was amazing!! have they shown the film elsewhere? |
They didn't show it when I saw them (two weeks ago), but that wasn't really their show. What was it like?
|
it was really cool... the film was a bit weird and arty, and not the best possible quality but they really played great music to it, sort of ritual psychedelic groove, not too unlike the original classic angus maclise soundtrack. there's of course the DVD out now, with the original soundtrack as well as new soundtracks by sunburned and acid mothers temple.
|
they showed it at both gigs in holland too. they started their set with it.
sonicl, if you have the threelobed EP "the mylar tantrum", that's their soundtrack to it. if not, i recorded them twice and when i can find someone to transfer them for me i'll upload it. |
I have "the mylar tantrum", yes. I wasn't keen on it at first, but that was before I saw SBHOTM live, and I really must listen again.

oh yeah, i have to listen to it again, i'm sure it makes more sense now that i've finally seen the film... and today mercury rev plays here, busy days in helsinki... |
how about lordi?
i prefer sunburned hand of the man as a live band too. i don't listen to their albums that often. |
lordi rules of course... well, just kidding but it was sweet to finally win the eurovision song contest, we finnish people have always taken it very seriously and we've used to being last everytime, "finland zero points"...
from sunburned albums my fave is jaybird but i have many of their albums that i've only listened to once or twice... so they're definitely better as live band. |
oh, lordi definitely rules... they're the best thing that could ever happen to the eurovision song contest.
my favourite sunburned i've heard is headdress but everyone's suggesting no magic man so i'll try that one next. |
I wish I'd bought more of the CDRs now, but I didn't have much cash left.
|
i bought two cd-rs (5 euros each) and complexion. i was thinking about getting the thunderbolt pagoda as well, but didn't in the end (it was 20 euros i think). cash reasons indeed.
|
I bought the first CD (purple cover), a t-shirt and a Keith Fullerton Whitman LP, and I was given a free CDR by an offshoot band (I can't say who, it has no name on it), but I'd also bought a load of other stuff at a record stall run by the concert organisers, so I was pretty skint by the end of the evening.
|
i bought just the purple cover s/t cd and a t-shirt.
|
What was the shirt like? Was it printed over another old shirt? I really liked that idea.
