Anyone know Hanadensha 'Narcotic Guitar' ?
Crazy bad ass psychedelic japanese music! Side project of Hira's (bassist from the Boredoms).
Some of you folk might recall me posting about this band before on the old board.....I made a fanpage on myspace ( www.myspace.com/hanadensha ) and I sonehow got through to the Boredoms via their Boredoms myspace page and got the ok to put up Narcotic Guitar for download! Check out the music on the myspace page and for the entire Narcotic Guitar album (which is the only one for DL since it's out of print) go here- www.sonicsoundwave.com/hanadensha Maybe if we can get enough loud crazy fans they might actually repint this album or tour which is one of the reasons why I made a fanpage (it'll never happen though, the other reason being to share this awesome unknown band with the rest of the world).....some of the most beautiful artwork ever too! |
Awesome. I really like it. Doobie Shining Love got a groove to it.
Cover art is beautiful, as well. |
I remember i liked acoustic mothership the best from those, which were able to download back then. thanks for posting it!

Glad to post it and share!! Get your free DL of the album if you don't already have it! Yeah that song Acid River is some heavy thick distorted drones....love it. the Doobie Shining Love EP is the weakest of the 3 but well worth it for the title track alone...yes that groove is awesome!! and the 2nd song from that cd is just another song from Narcotic Guitar. The 3rd, the western track is silly but catchy and the end is awesome! Astral Pigmy Wave is the most ambient and is quite lovely. Narcotic Guitar in its entirety is just a beqautiful craetion of interesting music and more listenable on a day to day basis. |
That's what I call community service!
|
thhhhhank you!

Quote:
Yeah small world indeed......my name is Blake....been living here for like 10 years.....y tu? |
i've been here a little over a year. transferred to ut my senior year in college.
don't think i know any blakes. my name is joshua. |
Quote:
nice to meet you joshua.....where d'you transfer from? Maybe I'll see you out at one of our shows (skiesfalling and unfortuntaely we don't have any shows lined up right now....) |
Quote:
pleased to meet you, sir. i transferred from unt, up in denton. send me a pm whenever your band's playing. i'll be sure to make it out. |
Quote:
Denton!! Cool I have a lot of friends from up there! I'm actually from Ft Worth which is why..... |
cool. are you in touch with the music scene up there? i know alot of those folks.
|
Quote:
Yes very much in touch although not quite as in touch since relocating but I'm pretty familiar.....seems to be the most interesting scene in TX and maybe one of the most interesting anywhere regarding ratio of bands to cool interesting bands. Which bands or folks? Boredoms fanatics...you know I know there are plenty but since they never play here it's hard to have them all together at once.....but when discovered we should make sure to stick close! The music scene here isn't all that experiemntal either but there are a few really quality interesting creative bands......a few only! |
oh that is fabulous. lov ethe art as well.

baptist generals, marked men, mugzu, jetscreamer? i used to play in a nameless two piece band with a fellow named stephen blakey who used to play bass in the austin band confuzatron. know any of those folks? |
Quote:
Hey Joshua Blake here (heroic dose and skiesfalling one in the same). I know Brian Schmidt who used to play in the Baptist Generals I think or still does alhtough he lives in Austin now. I know Sam and Will from Jetscreamer and Billy MYatt who used to play with hem for a little while. Confuzatron I just met John Lennon down here rrecently as a matter of fact (guitarist)..... |
i've met sam and will a couple of times, but don't know them too well. don't think i know the others. still its a small world.
i'm out of here for the day. be sure to let me know when skiesfalling plays. i'd love to check out your music. |

Right on, if you want there's a thread with a recent EP release of ours in the non-sonics sounds section or you can go to our myspace or my website, but I'll be sure to let you know! Gettin shows in this town is a lot harder than it used to be! |
Hanadensha is an amazing band they are one of my favorite bands of all time, Those ep's are hugley influential on me. When blake shared them with us a long time ago, this music really changed my world. Now I actually own the ep's(can't find narcotic guitar). This is great stuff everyone should hear it. Hanadensha should be held in such high regard as the boredoms. In fact this stuff shows that hira might have been the psychedelic genius in the band instead of Eye.

SISTERK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!! This makes me so happy! I should have known you were here :) Interestingly enough TranceFeeedback the drummer from Hanadensha now plays in the Boredoms or has for a good number of years now. He could have very well been on the record Vision Creation Newsun. VCN and NarcoGuit are 2 of my most fav albums ever! |
I've been listening to it last night and you are pretty right,it's a very good album(bar one song that i can't name right now). There's one bit on it that reminded a lot of Godspeedyou Black Emperor's 'The dead flag blues' wich can only be a good thing in my book.I'm not too sure about the Boredoms comparisons as they didnt strike as sounding too similar bands. In wichever case i have to listen to it more.It takes me a while before i fully absorb a record into my system. My stereo at the moment is a battle between your music,my heatwave inspired music,Walter de Maria's 'Drums and nature' and Neu2.

Well I look at the album like a beautiful journey and so have the songs that you can tell are the more prominent pieces, then there are the cool weird little psychedelic color pieces that help transition between the prominent songs. I love evryhing on the album! Granted there may be a few tracks you wouldn't put singularly on like a mix cd but I think they all work well as a whole piece. |

small and funny world...hey blake, this is the guy who traded a dupe of _Narcotic Guitar_ from you for Miles Davis' _Dark Magus_ about 2 years ago. |
Might as well open up this one again :)
For a free download of Narcotic Guitar go to www.myspace.com/hanadensha and check out the blog section for the link.... Yeah I hope this one doesn't come back to bite me in the ass someday! |
fuck, never heard this, and i've heard almost every other boredoms side project... shit.i wonder if it's as good as psycho baba................
|
Quote:
This album is on the level with Vision Creation Newsun except it came out in 1995!! And it's more subdued and cosmic and definitely very psychedelic! One of my all time Favs.... |
We'll all do drugs and be happy. Happy?
|
i thought i posted here already a while back...
...anyway, it's one of the best boredoms related albums! |
as good as vision creation newsun? surely you jest!
but yeah i will get this tomorrow.. if it's anywhere half as good as rovo or omoide hatoba, it's a must.. |
Quote:
Well let's just say it's on the level with VCN.... VCN is much more driving and high energy, an obvious Boredoms groove; Narcotic Guitar is much more of a slow swirl with at times some boredoms esque driving tribal drums, but all and all I think further reaching in crreativity and diversity, but eiether way regardles of which is your favored both definitely a must in any collection of music for those who dig Japanese psyche. |
you know, i downloaded some of this, and i HAD heard astral pygmy/golden age of heavy blood before.. i even sampled some of astral for a scissor shock song. still, i guess i hadn't thought much of it at the time and quickly forgot about it.
damn i won't make that mistake agian. this shit's GREAT!!!!!!!! |
