No Neck Blues Band?

I'm interested in them. Do you guys have any recommendations to which album is their best?

Glice 03.31.2006 08:08 PM

Letters from the Earth is my joint favourite album of all time (With Fushitsusha's 'I saw it! ...that which before I could only sense...') . All of their records are mind-meltingly brilliant. Perhaps start with sticks and stones... because I think that's the easiest way in. But they are so much better than anything else in the world right now apart from Keiji Haino.

Iain 04.01.2006 03:26 AM

Yeah, NNCK are great and mighty. I'm not sure Letters From the Earth is the best place to start. As Glice suggests Sticks and Stones is pretty fantastic. Aslo Qvaris, the most recent one, makes a good primer.

Other ones which I love are Intonomancy, Parallel Easters and Birth of Both Worlds. I only have a copy of Birth.. so if anyone has an actual copy they want to sell...let me know. I know yod.com has it but they want $80 for it.

Also, look out for the collaboration with Embryo that's coming out next month.....

TheDom 04.01.2006 07:36 PM

Thanks guys. I downloaded Qvaris and Sticks & Stones. I really like Qvaris. I'm going to order it here in a minute.

I'll probably want to get that Embryo split too. I take it Embryo are a good band?

Have you checked gemm.com? Or ebay? I often find rare NNCK releases at those sites.

I haven't got birth of both worlds, I do need it... have you heard re: mister a fan? That's my favourite of the lo-fi, recorded in a box ones... it's amazing how they start of sounding like a hippy jam band and somehow always end up in some sun ra space weirdness thing... Truly one of the greatest bands of the moment, they shit on JOMF, Sunburned and the like.

What else is on at this Spanish festival?

Total bummer that they're not playing in the UK. I am kind of tempted to go and see them somewhere in Europe as well. It's sort of around my birthday so maybe I can justify the expense to myself that way. :) Embryonnck release party would be awesome....and while if I went it would make sense to catch a few other dates while in Germany. BIt of a pipedream though...

jon boy 04.03.2006 09:10 AM

totaly love the nnbb. does anyone know if they are playing in the states between april and may?

Iain 04.03.2006 09:16 AM

oh right....Primavera sound fest. Didn't pay too much attention there did I? I think I would prefer to see them outside of a festival situation and Spain isn't high on my list of places I would like to visit....too hot for my taste.

Sn@ke 04.03.2006 11:51 AM

yes!! they are coming to Portugal!!.

thanks for the tour dates.

Iain 04.04.2006 11:08 AM

Anyone thinking of seeing them on this tour? Despite them not playing in the UK I am thinking of making a trip across the channel to see them. Don't know which date yet. Sort of thinking maybe Germany seeing as I might be able to catch 2 or 3 dates there. Or maybe Rotterdam as that gives me more planning time.

finding nobody 05.22.2006 10:26 AM

so, they're not really a blues group?

Interperatively a blues band.

A Thousand Threads 05.22.2006 03:10 PM

I bought EmbryonNNCK two days ago

pic from donaufestival

just remembering makes me cream my pants

Пятхъдесят Шест 05.22.2006 03:12 PM

Yeah, I'm pretty jealous...

A Thousand Threads 05.22.2006 03:14 PM

Пятхъдесят Шест 05.22.2006 03:20 PM

AH! The first one will now be my wallpaper.

Awesome pics, did you take them?

A Thousand Threads 05.22.2006 03:21 PM

i stood behind the dude who took em

Dan 05.22.2006 03:21 PM

Intonomancy is my favorite.

Пятхъдесят Шест 05.22.2006 03:23 PM

Live at Kens Electric Lake is mine.

jon boy 05.22.2006 03:23 PM

nice pics. man i would have loved to have gone to the berlin show. you are lucky ian!

Glice 05.22.2006 03:25 PM

Aw. Lovely shots of Michiko (sp?) there... I spoke to her before their Leeds show a couple of years ago. She was really nice and didn't seem to want me to fuck right off in spite of the fact that I was being a complete fan boy tosser. She was talking about how she picked up the saxophone because of Kauru Abe and how Keiji Haino is a complete dick.

Also, nic pic of 'the best beard in rock' whose name escapes me. It should, by rights, be 'the best beard in rock', given that it's the best beard in rock.

Пятхъдесят Шест 05.22.2006 03:28 PM

I actually thought he (beard guy) left the band. Who left before Qvaris was released?

A Thousand Threads 05.22.2006 03:30 PM

the "the best beard in rock-guy" whose name i can´t remember either
is a very strange person

i talked to him nearly an hour
i mean he was nice
but very, very strange

no, he didn´t

Пятхъдесят Шест 05.22.2006 03:32 PM

I was thinking about this the other night...

There is no comprehensive listing of their discography.

Anyone want to help compile one?

trance feeeedback 05.22.2006 03:35 PM

An awsomely strange band!

Пятхъдесят Шест 05.22.2006 03:35 PM

That picture is even better.

A Thousand Threads 05.22.2006 03:35 PM

jon boy 05.22.2006 03:39 PM

fucking lovely.

Everyneurotic 05.22.2006 03:41 PM

alright, ace band

A Thousand Threads 05.22.2006 03:43 PM

be warned !! if you´re going to see them live, never throw oranges at the bass player, cuz he's gonna get naked and throw his clothes and cymbals on you, pour his own nude body with fake blood and then wrap himself in duct tape and towels.

(he did at the Korneuburg gig)
freakin brilliant

jon boy 05.22.2006 03:49 PM

ever heard of a 'band' called costes from france/belgium? thats what they do. get naked and do just about everything you can possibly imagine to eachother with just about about every bodily secretion. i guess you can consider it it theatre in a way but many were running for the door when the naked man covered in poo ran at them.

i will hold my oranges until the end of the set.

Haha! Excellent. Someone told me about Costes on another board, a discussion on outsider music. I quite like his music... I'm not going to bother defending that, but I happen to think he's great. I've yet to see him live, and I suspect I wouldn't like to...

gmku 05.22.2006 04:40 PM

Thurston Moore in Arthur magazine has called them the "coolest band in the universe, ever." That's good enough for me!

I really like Qvaris. But it's also the only No Neck I own so far. But it's very cool. I have it on vinyl, no less!

HaydenAsche 05.22.2006 05:29 PM

Naked and bodily fluids?

Sounds like KK Rampage to me.

I forget his name, but he's in Excepter now. It's on wikipedia I believe.
