Yeah i have the Lightbulb cdr but i prefer this Big Nils album, it reminds me a little bit of BYOP (which is a good thing). |
Shouldn't this really be in the nonsonics category - or are we worshipping bloodlines still?
|
we are worshipping bloodlines!
|
Coco is not playing any instruments???
Shocking. |
that 1st track has some damn good guitar on it

Gave a listen to this one just now. It won't end in the list of the best records i've heard this year, but i consider it a good album, really fun to listen to. I have the impression Coco's voice is a tiny bit similar to Kim's, and i liked that even though that's not my favorite element of this band so far -they sound good and their sense of humor is priceless, especially in that song, "Herpes". I wasn't aware the Lightbulb record had been already released, i might try to hunt it down at some point when i have some free time and some spare bucks, too. I suppose it might be a bit different to this one, stu? Do you consider there has been a bit of progression if both records have similar aesthetics, or is there actually something closer to a poppier sound on the Lightbulb record? Kind of different entities? Just a bit curious.

well i only have the Lightbulb Live: First Show cdr, as far as i know the studio album never got released. it seems to still be available here: http://www.heresee.com/available.htm http://www.heresee.com/lightbulb.htm Lightbulb and Big Nils isn't that different imo, if anything the Big Nils album is more poppier than Lightbulb but i would no way describe either as pop. the Big Nils stuff sounds alot more mature and with properly structured songs which is understandable seeing as Coco was only 11 when she recorded Lightbulb and is now 16. sorry as much as i love music i hate reviewing/describing it. you'll have to hear for yrself. ;) |

Thanks for replying, your response is explicit and clear and has instigated deeper interest on my part for both acts, i also appreciate your pointing me in the right direction for having the chance to make my own analysis. You are awesome. |

Rubbish.

thanks,
i like |
It's good for what it is. Fun adolescent stuff. I can see them (taken they stay together, which is doubtful) developing into something more interesting down the road. Either way, cool to see Coco doing something musical.

![]() so cute |
|
the drummer seems to have poor material. it does more than its functions.. Nirvana's "heart-shaped box" drumming comes as example for a "strong and soft at the same time" sound.
|
i thought the same...maybe this sound need more minimal approach
|
shouldn't this be in the non-sonics section?
|
Phew...I wqas going to pick this up on Saturday too....but I decided not because I saw Live at Smart bar.
