C'mon Porky, I need to know more than that. What instrument(s) was Keiji Haino playing for instance? Guitar? Drums? Hurdygurdy? Summat else?
|
Ah. I wasn't entirely sure what you were trying to say to me, a combination of noise and mutual drunkeness. You were leaving, I see.
It went a bit subdued for a bit, then Corsano did a bit of a solo, I went for a wee and the when I came back Haino was splitting the heavens with his guitar. He did some pretty stuff, some more theramin stuff and some difficult scratchy stuff, and a couple of big ROCK riffs. It was great.com. |
Yeah, him and Iain wandered over after the storm had gone and the wreckage was peeling out before me...
Yeah, bit jumpy after that accident, was quite outstanding. Still, such is London life eh? |
Ace. I'm looking forward to round 2 tonight.
I'm gonna spend my afternoon record shopping methinks. Probably the mighty sound323. MMm. Records. |
Yeah, I was thinking about it this morning, because it schreeched its way across to the other side of the road... if it'd gone to the left, there would've been pedestrian carnage, which we'd have missed by roughly 5 feet.
|
Adventure follows you everywhere you go doesn't it Porky? I mean, you cut yourself up at Circle, now police chases for Keiji Haino. What do you have planned for the Steve Reich thing? Should I bring a fire extinguisher?
|
you left early so you could go to bed?!
who is going tonight? |
would anybody happen to have taken photos of this event, or better yet recorded it?
and just so you know i might actually die of jealousy over you limeys. |

i took some photo last night, i'll up them later. tonight's show was even better. didn't take any photos though, but if i had they would probably look the same as the ones i took yesterday. |
Last night was too much. Goddamn overload, brainmelt time in the best possible sense.
About 20 minutes into his set some dude shouted something like "Shit, you're shit Haino, you can't play. Everyone's bored, you're shit." He was wrong and so was ejected. It was quite amusing how irate he got. |
yeah, i can't really express how absolutely incredible last night's show was. one of the three best shows i've been to.
i was quite dissapointed by many of the audience though, lots of people with fingers in their ears, and about half the crowd left early. disgraceful! |
Maybe they had to get to work the next morning.
|
Quote:
Humbug! They can go to work any day they like, but how often can they see old Kenny? |
I can't talk anyway, I cried off altogether because of a case of the sniffles.
|
you should have come, he would have blown that cold out of your head.
hopefully it won't be another six years before he returns. actually i was quite surprised by the low number of attendees, there were probably only 200 people there last night, and probably half left before the end. |
jobs are over rated.

Was it right that Z'ev played a support slot on Monday? How was that?

i've read a couple of interviews where thurston laments over london gig audiences... especially when SY have played there and have got weird/improv acts to open, there has generally been a negative reaction... one of many other reasons that puts me off moving to london... |
Quote:
i think that's more to do with people who are fans of sonic youth from the pop end of things, they aren't the sort of people you would run into at other weird music gigs. there are plenty of weird gigs going on in london where the crowds aren't mostly heckle-prone twats. |
yeah, i suppose that's a good point... even seeing SY at T in the Park, they played some free jazz shit over the sound system before SY came on... I remember hearing some comments from bewildered audience members... i suppose SY fans in general tend to emanate more from the mainstream spectrum of things...

he did solo a percussion thing. rubbish, was the general concensus. |
Z'ev was pretty poo. I really enjoyed the free support last night (the free thing). I also enjoyed Haino a lot, but also managed to slip in a nap in the middle of his set.
I would like to apologise herewith to Mr & Bowels and Iain for being utterly plastered, and would like to extend my thanks again to Mr & Bowels for the loaning of sleeping space. |
no berlin dates. cunting fuck.

Yep, the 10 or so minutes of Z'ev that I saw was pretty rubbish. I would normally have stayed to see if it got any better but it was so bloody hot in there I had to get a breather. And Glice really was very, very drunk. No apologies required, it was most entertaining. |

apology accepted |
It's quite a common theme with me, unfortunately. Every time I come to London I end up in bars for days on end and don't actually eat anything. Fucking spazztard. Still, you were both most magnanimous in your faint bemusement.
I should like to point out to any audience concerned that Porkie was quite drunk on Monday night. He is, nonetheless, a very cuddly man. |
Not again, no. I went to a bar in Paddington for most of the afternoon. No bears though.
|
no we went to that mexican place on old street because it was the nearest thing that was open.
by the way, i wasn't bothered by your drunkeness, but i'm not one to turn down a groveling apology when they come my way either. marras is always drunk. |
Grovelling, habitual, ubiquitous/ potato, potato, potato.
That Mexican place, I should point out, is surely the vestibule of death. Last time I was in there I was being fed umpteen tequilas by an Irishman. |
i've never been in, that place looks so dodgy.
|
were you all together?
what a sight that would have been. |
yes we were all together. iain and glice even shared a bed.
|
It was quite amusing, actually, given that we all agreed to wear ponchos and Mexican hats so as to recognise each other. Oh, did we look ace or what?
And then a load of really cute girls came up and asked us to sex them because we were clearly sexy so we sexed them and it was good and then we sexed them some more. Oh, the fun we had. |
Oh yes, Iain and me had a HOT night of PASSIONATE sleep.
|
really, i would have thought a bar run by russian gangsters would have been the apex of good taste?

my housemate told me you two were all cuddled up when she came in in the morning |

Ha. Jealousy is such a cruel thing. She clearly wanted to be the meat in a manwich. |
