Music that disturbs you in a pleasant way

Music that unsettles you but you can't live without.

I really shouldn't own this record, but let's call it a sick fascination. It's rubbish, but rubbish in a scary and compelling way.

Inhuman 09.08.2006 09:35 AM

Khanate. Listening to them in the dark and really focusing on the music can be really rattle your emotions, but what a great , great band.

Also Jim O'Rourke has some pretty out there stuff in his lyrics (Halfway to a threeway).

YEA - I knew you liked the cover, that's why I wanted my message just below yours

For sure! I really need to get Insignificance and Eureka sometime. Jim's such a genius. His lyrics are terribly insane too! Haha, yeah it wouldn't be something to let your kids see, especially if they're young and easily influenced by pictures

The Fall- LA
Suicide - Frankie Teardrop

Glice 09.08.2006 10:03 AM

"ELL. ELL. ELL. ELL. AY. AY. AY. AY."

The Fall have loads of those moments. "Strife. Knot. Strife K-NOT".

And, seeing as there's an Industrial strain floating about, I'd like to add TG's Weeping and Hamburger Lady to the list.

porkmarras 09.08.2006 10:14 AM

The second unnamed track by Plunderphonic Allstars on this album is sinister sounding:

porkmarras 09.08.2006 10:15 AM

Let's not forget this.Scary as fuck!

Savage Clone 09.08.2006 10:19 AM

Certain Residents LPs.
Coil's "Hellraiser Themes" 10"

And let us not forget the mighty Fred Lane.

Bunch of creeps Whitehouse are.

sun city girl 09.11.2006 07:25 AM

caroliner, especially that double-lp 'rings on the awkward shadow'.

whorefrost 09.11.2006 08:16 AM

i was just about to mention whitehouse, especially the mummy and daddy album. ultra sinister... the track Private I have only ever listened to once and that was enough. Fucking sick. A Cunt Like You is one of my favourite songs of all time and Daddo and Philosophy of the Wife Beater are genius as well, really tense and grim...

Prussian Blue

Daddylikes 09.11.2006 10:24 AM

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to HaydenAsche again.

BTW, Xiu Xiu is coming here next month. I need to get into them before the show, should I listen to their new shit or what? Where can I get some free Xiu Xiu to get hooked on that shitz?

HaydenAsche 09.11.2006 10:26 AM

I'll YSI something later. Do you have an e-mail I can use? I lack the PM function.

Knife Play
A Promise
The Air Force

those are there best 3 releases. I'll up a bit from each one. I'm pumped for when they come here.

atari 2600 09.11.2006 10:42 AM

In other words, the ones where Greg Saunier is somewhere nearby.

I'd like to hear The Air Force.

HaydenAsche 09.11.2006 12:12 PM

Your wish is granted, Atari. I'll up it later tonight.

Send me an e-mail at hayden_asche@hotmail.com and I'll e-mail it to your e-mail.

Same goes for AssBlaster. Send me a damn e-mail.

Cantankerous 09.11.2006 04:28 PM

black sabbath used to scare the shit out of me when i was little.

EMMAh 09.11.2006 06:15 PM

Where is my Mind by the Pixies always creeps me out hahaha, but I fucking love it. Charles Manson's music is weird too but that's just cause it's by Charles Manson.

Rob Instigator 09.11.2006 08:54 PM

I have an album of sea chanteys that makes me feel weird. There are several butthole surfer songs that creep me out to this day. charles manson singing is definitely NOT right

cosmokramer 09.12.2006 12:23 AM

Certain Jesus Lizard songs make me feel very uncomfortable.
But I love them.

golden child 09.12.2006 12:30 AM

i am not sure there is anything really, maybe some parts of certain songs but nothing in particular.

Phlegmscope 09.12.2006 02:48 AM

Lately probably Whitehouse and Throbbing Gristle.

jon boy 09.12.2006 03:03 AM

some power electronics stuff disturbed me when i saw it. also the crowd at said gig was quite scary, lots of military clothes and skinheads.

qprogeny79 09.12.2006 08:20 AM

first thing i thought of when i saw this thread was nurse with wound.

porkmarras 09.12.2006 08:41 AM

I haven't mentioned some sinister Current 93 moments yet.

Pookie 09.12.2006 08:51 AM

Some of Suicide's first scared the bejesus out of me the first time I heard it.

Pookie 09.12.2006 08:53 AM

The dog gave me that thing yesterday.
