are the sunburned hand of the man the best band ever right now?
if you dont like them your dead inside.
not the best. but they rock ass.
If Jonboy says so,i better agree.Even though i know the grand total of whatever i forgot that i've heard by them.....YES!Sunburned Hand OF The Man are the greatest band right now.And If i disagree with myself,an argument might erupt.
no man
Comets On Fire are. |
Certainly one of the best live bands at the moment.
you're.
They are good, but Animal Collective are the best now...
i like them a lot but i don't listen to them regularly, i'm not bananas over them. there's a thousand other equally as great (or greater) as the hand.
the Hand aren't that fantastic. Rather boring in fact.
Better bands: Xiu Xiu Animal Collective Cat Power |
Oh no, I must be dead inside, because I agree with The Asche.
Dressing up jams that alternate between drony & tribal or both with decidedly amateurish & haphazard instrumentation in the guise of eclecticism isn't like my bag, dude. I don't see what's so fucking special about it at all. I can get together with, say, four other guys & smoke a joint & we can sound more or less the same. Sonic Youth are still the best band in the world, both live & on record. |
diesels myspace!
i was cynical myself till i saw them live and i have to say, they totally blew me away. definitely want to check them out again at atp.
there really good, but "best band in the world" is a stretch, even they will admit to that. but they're pretty good.
Meh. They're ok, but I've yet to get completely bowled over by their music. It's good, but doesn't push my 'hippy weirdoes' button in the same way as NNCK.
Well, last tuesday they rocked my ass more than anything ever before, so they have to be up there among the greatest.
Bad
love em. always intresting
there berlin show last night was nothing short of remarkable. two hours of fucked up bliss baby.
definitely somewhere in the divine triumvirate up there .... at the moment
I enjoy them, but my friends and I used to get stoned and jam and our recordings sound pretty much just like that.
That being said. Animal Collective is the best band around at the moment. |

I think you're forgetting about Puddle of Mud and Theory of a Deadman |
LOL.
I'm listening to Headdress now and it's pretty good. |
everything, with the exception of the propect hummer ep, after hollindagain has been downhill for animal collective.
headdress is a classic album. |
You are crazy.
i like everything animal collective has put out, i can't choose a favorite
Ooh, yes.
So what's the point, when people say, they don't like a certain band, because they claim, they can create the same sound as the band. Do you condemn Louie Louie and I wanna be your dog for the same reason?
best gigs i've seen lately top-2:
1. animal collective 2. sunburned hand of the man |
Didn't say I didn't like them just because I can make sounds like them. Just saying that they aren't the best around.
That wasn't primarily meant as criticism towards you, you wrote you enjoy them. It's just, that I read/hear that reason for disliking an band every now and then and i think it's a ridiculous reason.
Word. I can agree to that. Besides, if someone plays music that sounds like a band they don't like isn't there something up with that?
I don't like no talent bands that I could imitate with a broken guitar and the influence of hallucinogens.
Does anyone know the names of the members? Discogs.com only mentions two guys named Keith Wood and Phil Franklin. The record i have only lists some first names ...
i voted yes.

there are too many... there was a nice zine called sunflower press(?) which has extensive interviews of most of the members... maybe it's still available in eclipse records? too bad keith wood (hush arbors) wasn't on their last tour but phil franklin was, also some others but i don't remember their names right now. |
John Moloney, Paul Labrecque, Chad Cooper, Dave Bohill, John Moloney, Mjk, Rich Pontius, Rob Thomas, Ron Schneiderman, Tony Godess. Valerie Webb, Chris Corsano...
I'm not for one moment claiming that's everyone though. Good SBHOTM discog here. |

The lineup in which I saw them in Holland had (thanks pjc for the info) everyone in this picture, except for the bald guy on the left who doesn't appear to be in the band. ![]() from left to right: unknown bald guy, Paul Labrecque, Phil Franklin, John Moloney, Mick Flower (from Vibracathedral Orchestra), Ron Schneidermann, Mike K, Rob Thomas. I imagine in Austria it would've been pretty much the same, except maybe without Paul Labrecque? At least he didn't play with them in the UK I think, so maybe just some dates in and around Belgium. |
no
