but anyway, i digress.

yes! stoli! hmmm.... good stuff.

Cantankerous 09.13.2006 03:37 PM

100 proof vodka kicks my ass.

Tokolosh 09.13.2006 03:50 PM

In an old fashioned or (flat bottomed) on-the-rocks glass, add:

- 2 to 3 (depending on size) key limes cut into thin slices (approximately 1/8 inch thick). some people like to peel the limes before slicing but this eliminates the lime oil in the peel, which many believe to be essential for an 'authentic' taste. You may want to remove any seeds before muddling ... unless you're fond of straining them through your teeth.
- Add 2 to 3 heaping tablespoons of sugar to the top of the lime slices (Brazilians like it VERY sweet)
- Muddle (mash) sugar and limes together well
- Add 2 to 3 shots (ounces) cachaça
- Stir well to thoroughly dissolve the sugar, add cracked ice, stir, enjoy ... and think tropical thoughts!

- Serves 1

This is the cachaça I use.

static-harmony 09.13.2006 03:52 PM

If I drink I would choose this one.

Tokolosh 09.13.2006 04:02 PM

those ones with the limes are so good though. i don't really do mixed drinks though, just vodka and lemonade or cranberry juice or rum and coke.

Hip Priest 09.13.2006 04:38 PM

^ Sounds like a good plan to me.

These Polish drinks are useful. Kubus (pr. ku-bosh) are carrot drinks with fruit eg banana, strawberry or - yummy - raspberry. The fruit means that they don't taste of carrot, which is no bad thing.

The bear's cute too.

Cantankerous 09.13.2006 04:41 PM

what the fuck? they put booze in those?

porkmarras 09.13.2006 04:43 PM

Still.........drinking wusses.

No, although you can. They mix well with vodka and lemonade. I forgot to make that clear.

I'm probably debasing the whole Kubus philosophy by mixing them with alcohol, but since the Poles also make the world's best vodka, it seems Ok to me.

Cantankerous 09.13.2006 04:47 PM

little poland in new york is one of my favorite restaurants. damn those crafty polacks.

porkmarras 09.13.2006 04:47 PM

Polish vodka is another thing alltogether though........

Hip Priest 09.13.2006 04:48 PM

I'm not a lager chap, but Polish lager is the best too, come to think of it.

Cantankerous 09.13.2006 04:49 PM

they make good chicken noodle soup too.

porkmarras 09.13.2006 04:53 PM

For about a year all i drunk was guinness and polish vodka and 'that' vodka is second to none in my humble(arrogant!) opinion.

Hip Priest 09.13.2006 04:54 PM

Chamjinisulro soju is made by the Korean Jinro company. It's a distilled spirits made from grain. Similar to vodka (a bit), it's 22% but it's lovely tast makes up for the low alcohol content! The prices on this picture are not in pounds, I assume (I pay £3.99 a bottle):

If ever you're in MAnchester, head to the Woo Sang shop and pick up a bottle or two.

Cantankerous 09.13.2006 04:56 PM

generally as far as beer goes, i like heineken, grolsch, guinness, stella, bass, etc etc. american beers are shit though.

porkmarras 09.13.2006 04:57 PM

Where's Diesel when you need him?

Hip Priest 09.13.2006 04:59 PM

My three favourite vodkas:

Wyborowa [Poland]
Altai [Siberia]
Zubrowka (Bison Grass) [Poland]

Aren't some of those east European vodkas supposed to be dodge? You gotta watch out that you don't get alcohol poisoning from bad quality vodka.

Hip Priest 09.13.2006 05:05 PM

Eastern Europe is also the home of vodka. Buy from reputable dealers only.
