In a 'Morrisey mood'

Well well.Have you ever been in one?I am in one tonight.

HaydenAsche 09.15.2006 02:04 PM

I'm always in the mood for the Smiths. Morrissey is good but the Smiths were far better.

porkmarras 09.15.2006 02:06 PM

Not my point but very close. One of those days when all i play is The Smiths and related.

Rob Instigator 09.15.2006 02:07 PM

I have been in a Morrissey mood for a few weeks now. I blast Morrissey and smiths. to me they are equals and delicious and wonderful.

MOTHER I can feel the soil falling over myyyyyyyyyy.....

HaydenAsche 09.15.2006 02:07 PM

I understood. I just didn't care and posted what I wanted. I'm going to put in the new Morrissey after Joanna Newsom.

Rob Instigator 09.15.2006 02:08 PM

I love his DVD who put th M in manchester.

filmed at manchester on his birthday during the Quarry tour.

porkmarras 09.15.2006 02:11 PM

I have 'The youngest was the most loved' on now.

porkmarras 09.15.2006 02:11 PM

There is not such thing in life as normal!

Hip Priest 09.15.2006 02:11 PM

I still have days when I listen to loads of Smiths stuff, but Morissey solo (and Marr's other stuff) has never had anything like the same effect on me. I would say though that a 'Smiths mood' isn't the wallowing self-pity thing that many imagine it to be - I always thought of Morissey as either clever or witty (or both). The Smiths made me smile a lot and, of course, they're another wonderful thing about Manchester.

'Smiths moods' usually consist of the whole of 'Meat is Murder' and whatever other bits I choose. For whatever reason, I've never updated my Smiths stuff onto cd - they seem to suit vinyl.

porkmarras 09.15.2006 02:14 PM

When i say 'Morrisey mood' i probaly mean The Smiths as i'm a huge fan.I've never thought of them as 'sad' but more melancholic wich is a different thing alltogheter.

porkmarras 09.15.2006 02:20 PM

Always looking for attention
Always needs to be mentioned
Who does she
Think she should be ?
The shrill cry through darkening air
Doesn't she know he's
Had such a busy day ?

Tell her ... sshhh
Somebody tell her ... sshhh
Oh, no way, no way, there's no movement
Oh, oh, hooray
Slowest ...

It was only a test
But she swam too far
Against the tide
She deserves all she gets
The sky became marked with stars
As an out-stretched arm slowly
Disappears

Hooray
Oh hooray
No, oh, oh, woh, there's no movement
No, oh, hooray
Oh, hooray

Please don't worry
There'll be no fuss
She was ... nobody's nothing

(What's your name ?)
(What's your name ?)
(What's your name ?)
(What's your name ?)

When he awoke
The sea was calm
And another day passes like a dream
There's no ... no way

(What's your name ?)
(What's your name ?)
(What's your name ?)
(What's your name ?)
(What's your name ?)
(What's your name ?)
(What's your name ?)
(What's your name ?)

porkmarras 09.15.2006 02:26 PM

Morrisey is happier than this whole forum put together these days. And it shows. It's not a good thing.hehe

Glice 09.15.2006 02:28 PM

Because he REALLY needs to be more of an up himself arrogant prick, right? [inresponsetocokeideas]

I haven't had a Smiths mood in ages. I used to often, but I've 'known' too many women who're into the Smiths, it kind of ruins the whole single-ness melancholy of it all.

Now, Fall moods, they come by once or twice an hour.

Steady on there, man. There is space for both.

Yours

Morrith

Glice 09.15.2006 02:35 PM

Space, of course. I just very rarely think, "Oooh. Smiths, yes, that's what I want." Whereas, in spite of the fact I listen to them every day (nearly), I still go, "Ooooh. The Fall!" Every time.

porkmarras 09.15.2006 02:36 PM

Polar opposites meet.

Glice 09.15.2006 02:39 PM

Oh, I'm definitely going to need a beer if we're playing the post obliquely game.

porkmarras 09.15.2006 02:43 PM

'Morrisey Mood',remember.

porkmarras 09.15.2006 02:44 PM

I've just allowed some Nico to slip in through because of that.

porkmarras 09.15.2006 02:45 PM

Yes,that's it.

Rob Instigator 09.15.2006 02:46 PM

I love Morrissey's solo stuff equally with the smiths. I see it as a continuum. While I love the smiths I really have never seen anything all that outstanding about Johnny marr's playing or his arrangents. They are wonderful but not something that matches musically what Morrissey brings lyrically. without the Moz and his vocal stylings and his lyrics, the smiths would have been just another jangle pop rock band out of manchester.

people do not understand sometimes that on the surface morrissey's lyrics are selfpity but below that he is actually denigrating the very people who feel that self pity, including himself and US. I love that.

Glice 09.15.2006 02:48 PM

I'm in an Industrial mood. Can't we just be friends? We both want to wear Nazi outfits...

porkmarras 09.15.2006 02:49 PM

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Glice and Diesel again.Even though i'm in a 'Morrisey mood'

king_buzzo 09.15.2006 02:54 PM

meine uncles band opened for morrisey once

fishmonkey 09.15.2006 02:58 PM

aww i always am in the mood for the old Mozza... but i have to hand it to you Hayden, what you said is bang on, The Smiths were far better.

porkmarras 09.15.2006 02:58 PM

I'm moving on to The Pipettes now.Terrordrome.

fishmonkey 09.15.2006 03:00 PM

i would go out tonight but no...

i'm just too blue.

fishmonkey 09.15.2006 03:00 PM

jesus, its amazing what happens when you google "sad"

fuckin hell

HaydenAsche 09.15.2006 03:00 PM

Give the kid some damn pills.

porkmarras 09.15.2006 03:12 PM

Surprised as you two would percieve Morrisey as being sad.He never struck as being a 'sad' person as such but more an outsider with considerable problems that turned into gold. The Smiths?I was never saddened by them but more, like, uplifted wich would be more appropiate.

My friends think i'm a nutter for loving The Smiths/Morrissey, but they have been thinkin it for a long time now.

I like Johnny Mar's guitar playing, but I've never been much of a Smiths or Morrissey fan

Savage Clone 09.15.2006 05:10 PM

I would think you would find some solidarity with a fellow celibate.

There's always been a problem (in the British press at least) with bands that have black humour in them. The Smiths are a case in point. Very funny, lots of self-deprecating humour, but it doesn't add up to miserable. I can't believe it took me until last year to realise that Bauhaus aren't a terrible goth band, and in fact goth isn't necessarily a bad thing (it's the fans that are the problem...). Humour in music, for the press, seems to be about "HEY HEY!!!! WACKY WACKY WACKY!!!!!" rather than actually being funny. Actual comedy music is very difficult. I have a new thread brewing...

Savage Clone 09.15.2006 05:12 PM

Alien Sex Fiend are the ultimate hilarious goth band solely because you can tell they are poking fun out of love for the trappings of their interests.
