Montreal college shooting

http://www.sptimes.com/2006/09/15/Wo...ting_sho.shtml

Ok, I'm sure most people have heard all about this already.
But, seriously, someone made a game that mocks the columbine shootings?

LittlePuppetBoy 09.15.2006 07:09 PM

I know. It's quite sad. My brother lives in Montreal (luckily he is not a Dawson student).

The fact that someone made a game about Columbine is the most retarded thing ever.

Glice 09.15.2006 07:17 PM

I'm getting really bored of the 'but the news shows violence as well' defense. Yes, it does. Responsibility, anyone? Blame/ scapegoat culture. I'm so glad we don't have it here.

Edit: Bollocks, of course we do, we just don't have ass-loads of guns.

flophousefloozie 09.15.2006 08:26 PM

I can't beleive the creator just brushed it off. As if this game had no influence on the killer's decision to do exactly what he did while playing it, but in real life.
It's like fuck...

Inhuman 09.15.2006 08:36 PM

Really affected me. I have 2 friends that go there, and I recently found out that the killer is a friend of a friend of a friend of mine. Have you seen his vampire freaks page? The whole thing's retarded, and shocked a few of my friends that went to Dawson. The guy seriously had no life.

My friend Jodi was sitting by her desk and heard two gunshots from outside, and looked out and saw a guy walking in with a trenchcoat and a gun... she says she's never been more scared.

are you serious?

HaydenAsche 09.15.2006 11:54 PM

Yes. Let's blame the media. Let's blame everyone but the person who did it. If someone shoots up a school he can't be responsible. It must videogames or music. People shouldn't be held responsible for their own actions.

EDIT: Glice's post is fucking on-point.

flophousefloozie 09.16.2006 05:39 PM

I'm certainly NOT blaming the incident on the game. But, don't you think it had some sort of influence on his way of thinking? It completely desensitizes people. If you need to express an opinion on something that you know will upset people, that's what ART is for, you know?

At least find some more tasteful ways of communicating your thoughts. Rather than making a "fun" mockery of a school massacre through a low-budget video game.

HaydenAsche 09.16.2006 10:34 PM

It may have influenced someone but that someone was obviously a brainless moron to begin with. Again, it's his fault. People can make whatever video games they fucking want.

Norma J 09.16.2006 11:24 PM

Ban guns. They're to no good use at all.

HaydenAsche 09.16.2006 11:28 PM

What about shooting innocent civilians?

static-harmony 09.16.2006 11:28 PM

I am against guns, but I still believe people should have the right to own them if they want, just put harsher codes for getting guns.

Norma J 09.16.2006 11:53 PM

No. Just no guns. Why is it someones 'right' to own a weapon which purpose is to kill? Us humans, to stuck on killing things.

static-harmony 09.17.2006 12:07 AM

Well, somehow you have to protect yourself from getting attacked by someone. I'm not going to go join the NRA, but I do believe it is the person's responsibility to make sure his gun is locked safe, and all. I just think we need harsher set of rules for getting guns.

Norma J 09.17.2006 12:12 AM

No guns, means no guns. It doesn't mean no guns for you but guns for others to attack you, you without a gun. If you're in a pub and someone starts something with you, you don't need a gun to protect yourself.

People just need to get themselves fucking sorted out and you would have no need to protect yourself.

static-harmony 09.17.2006 12:15 AM

Yeah but what if you are in your own home, and the only way to protect yourself and your children or other love ones, is by a gun. I just think that logic no guns is not realistic, I mean is saying like let's make the world a better place. As long as there are humans there will be emotions and psychotic events that will lead us to do stupid stuff like the shooting in this colege.

Norma J 09.17.2006 12:31 AM

Guns are illegal in Australia. It works alot better that way.

static-harmony 09.17.2006 12:33 AM

Is it? I doubt that, as long as there is anomisity there will always be gun violence.

Norma J 09.17.2006 12:43 AM

Well doubt all you like, but they're still illegal.

static-harmony 09.17.2006 12:45 AM

Yeah, Well I still stand by my point and you by your point and nothing will makes us change that.

Norma J 09.17.2006 12:48 AM

What, that guns are illegal in Australia? Haha. They are.

static-harmony 09.17.2006 12:51 AM

No on your stand on guns on who should own them.

Norma J 09.17.2006 12:53 AM

Oh.

Yes, they have guns. But it's generally not cops shooting up schools.

In the UK, though, I believe the cops are gun-less.

flophousefloozie 09.18.2006 03:30 PM

A video game includes aspects of art, but is considered a "game", moreso than a "peice of art", in my opinion.

"all bullets should cost $5000, if all bullets cost $5000 there would be no more innocent bystanders, they'd be like 'damn he must of done something he put $50,000 dollars worth of bullets in his ass', people would say 'man i would kill you.............if i could afford it..........im gunna get me a job......save me some money.........and then you're a dead man" -Chris Rock

DemonBox 09.18.2006 04:43 PM

Ban the handgun.

static-harmony 09.18.2006 04:48 PM

Don't ban guns, just put stricter regulations.

COps are idiotic people, who try and failed to oppress people.

khchris(original) 09.18.2006 06:48 PM

A shooting in Canada?

but...isn't Canada 'perfect', 'safe', and 'civilized', unlike the USA?

it has to be a hoax, it can't be true. canada is the safest place in the world, people don't kill eachother in canada because they are better educated, have better healthcare, and are more polite people.

i refuse to believe anything bad happens in canada.

Haha, and if you've seen Bowling For Columbine, Micheal Moore tries to indicate that canada is safe with their guns. It really makes him look bad after this shooting

well he could still make a movie about the CIA being behind it... you know, to damage his credibility or something.
