Do you agree with student testing?
Mid-terms, final exams, theses, that kind of thing?
|
i have no exams anymore, only course work

love this thread |
most students should be made to suffer. evil laugh.
when i say most students i am actually talking about the stereotypical english student. |
no! testing is cruel and damages the self esteem of innocent little children.
humanity demands that we let anybody who wants to be a neurosurgeon practice without a license. |
Nice flip answer from someone I am sure realizes that with standardized testing comes classes that teach to the test only, not to mention that sometimes test performance does not directly correlate with the actual comprehension level of the curriculum by each and every student.

down with the man! a scalpel in every hand, and a law degree in the other!
|
Damn I thought it was for fisting when I saw it, now I'm depressed.
|
well it can be used in any way i guess. just cut and paste.
|
What about writing?
Pretty difficult to test consistently. Not like knowing "answers" to math/science, and inherently containing some level of subjectivity and discretion on the part of the testing review staff. |
|
I think testing should be required, but not just one form of testing.

i don't see any point to them seeing as how they've lowered passing grades so much that it doesn't matter how well you do, therefore the amount of idiots passing the tests is unthinkable.

is that like a larger version of this one :fuckyou:? i can't believe you're using oversized smilies-- i am disappointed... ![]() |

Well, you have to speak the language of the people you want to communicate with. Plus, I was looking for a complementary graphic to your "power" fist, and that was as close as I could get. |

That's true. In fact, in my school you only have to get 50% of the questions right to pass the graduation exam. I see how tests might be bad in certain situation (like wrting or reading comphrension), but I don't see why they should be eliminated completely. Educate me. |

i was unaware that i had handlers. what the fuck am i, a bear? |

That's true. But with the extreme laziness and apathy found in schools, without tests students wouldn't learn anything. The only time they try is when a test is coming up. Less motivation, you see. The standards on tests should be raised, but I guess that's what you hinting at. Since they won't be raised, they should be eliminated. |
I was talking to the Unpronounceable Windbag.

If school were taught in a more interesting or engaging way, motivation and apathy would be non-issues. |
yeah but you know that will never happen.
i'm just so glad i'm out/ |
Your right.
I've thought about getting out. Two more exams and I'm eligible to graduate, but I'll still be forced through two more years. It sucks. Catank, did you get your GED and drop out? |
yes.
|
That's what I should do.

She is right on that, GED isn't well looked upon, that is why I got my High School DIploma after my GED. |
Lame.
Why the long face, lady? The guy was a masochist who wanted to die. You should be happy. |

That's shit.
But, if I were to drop out, they'd suspend my lisence. You can't properly drop out until 18. |
