Best bands of the last two years,
I wanna know what you think so I can expand my pallet.
Give me your top pix, and if I haven't heard them I'll check em out. All genres and solo artists are welcome. Thanks. I really need new music, and I haven't been following things very closely since the turn of the decade. |
Wild Flag
Grass Widow Trash Kit |
Disappears and/or Ty Segall.
|
St. Vincent
|
A Shoreline Dream.
Bethany Curve. |
they've been around more than two years but check out White Hills if you haven't already.
|
Cold Cave
Cymbals Eat Guitars Yuck Broken Bells Soft Moon I know there's a few more I'm forgetting... |

I've got CEG (really enjoyed their first album, but haven't heard Lenses Alien), and Yuck on my iphone. Soft Moon is great too. I can't believe I didn't think of them. I'm not really into Broken Bells. Or rather, I haven't been exposed to much by them. Would you mind posting a link to a good song? |

I've been a Disappears fan since I first heard them. I can't believe that band hasn't received more hype. Very good. |
Not necessarily of the past two years but contemporary bands you'd do yourself a favour if you check them out:
Drunkdriver FNU Ronnies Puffy Areolas Francis Harold and The Holograms Rot Shit Naked on The Vague ( and pre-NOTV duo Vincent Over The Sink. innit?) Condominium The Nothing People Pink Reason U.S. Girls Eat Skull The Hospitals Human Eye The Men Slug Guts Kitchen's Floor Kurt Vile Blues Control Royal Headache GG King TV Ghost |

Thanks. Only one of those I'm familiar with is Kurt Vile, who I saw with Thurston not long ago. |

I guess it depends on how much you like more "current" indie pop stuff. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-GYb6ydfLeo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wAV8urhuRx4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nAyZRszhqa0 ~Jeremy~ |
Also let me second the Kurt Vile thing. It's well worth your time to go further into his music.

![]() Check out these guys too. They'e called Los Llamarada and recently split up, with a new album coming out on SSR Records soon. Uncle Thurston poses in pictures with them. Need I say more? |

Kinda hate most "current indie stuff", but I'll check this out. Thanks. |

no love for Garden Sound? includes members of Barn Owl and Heavy Winged...

I've never heard of them, will check them out though. thanks. |
Just seen 'em and you gotta dig 'em.... Talk Normal
|
Did you see them supporting Wire?
|
Quote:
NICE LIST!!!!! I concur!!!! |
Quote:
Hospitals are good. John Dwyer's project. I prefer oh sees though, or at least coach whips. ty segall also, yes. carnivores is one of mine, an atlanta band. |
Quote:
I wouldn't call The Hospitals John Dwyer's project. You do know who Adam Stonehouse is, don't you? John Dwyer has been a member of them. |
Also, The Oh Sees are vastly overrated. I don't mind them too much myself, but I don't get what's so special about them.

Quote:
Yeah, you'd imagine Talk Normal would totally appeal to your average SY fan. |
Blank Dogs

Ty for sure... but the Wavvvvves? I don't know. I think there's potential there, but I haven't heard anything that blew my mind. Plus their cover of 100% was fucking ass. |
Quote:
Yes... and they blew them offstage (Apart from Two People In A Room which was amazing). Wire were also ridiculously grumpy... but not in a good way. Quote:
Yes and no... your average Teenage Riot/Kool Thing type SY fan wouldn't really like them too much I don't think. But I know what you mean... |
Sharon Van Etten

Warpaint (unfortunately the studio recordings aren't faithful to how great they are in concert though)
