Sonic Youth @ State-X New Forms 15-12-2006, The Hague, Netherlands
Weird, I haven't logged in all day so I expected to see this posted by somebody else already.
Anyway, the rumours are true. Sonic Youth are playing at State-X New Forms 2006 in The Hague: Het Haagse festival State-X New Forms heeft de eerste namen bekend gemaakt voor de editie van 2006. Op 15 en 16 december a.s. zullen de volgende artiesten acte de présence geven in en rondom het Paard van Troje: - AARDVARCK (NL), - AAVIKKO (FIN), - (CHRIS) CLARK (GB), - CIRCLE (FIN), - JULIE MITTENS (NL), - LABASHEEDA (NL), - LA PESTE (F), - LOVE IS ALL (S), - MARK ONE (GB), - MONO (JAP), - NO NECK BLUES BAND (USA), - VINCENT OLIVER (GB), - PLASTICIAN (GB), - POW-ENSEMBLE feat. JOSEPH BOWIE (NL/USA), - RAUBERHÖHLE (D), - SEDAN VAULT (B), - SONIC YOUTH (USA). In totaal zullen zo'n veertig optredens plaatsvinden verdeeld over de naast elkaar gelegen locaties het Paard van Troje (vier podia) en PG8 (podium en expositieruimte). State-X New Forms wordt in 2006 voor de derde keer georganiseerd door het Paard van Troje en het Haags Popcentrum. De thematische inhoud van het festival is X-PLORE (wat zijn nieuwe ontwikkelingen in de experimentele popmuziek), X-PLAIN (wat is de historische kontekst) en X-PECT (wat valt er de komende jaren te verwachten). Beide dagen is de aanvang van het festival om 19.30 uur en het programma duurt tot 05.00 uur. De voorverkoop loopt via Ticketservice Nederland (www.ticketservice.nl) en de kassa van het Paard van Troje (070-3601838) en zal op 14 oktober a.s. beginnen. |

Does anyone know how much the tickets are gonna cost? Can't find the prices anywhere.

The prices aren't bad at all. Ticket sales start on the 14th October.

Seems like an interesting fest. Doesn't seem to be all 'noise' for people worried about that.
Julie Mittens are indeed ace. I met their guitarist (I think) at a festival and he was a thoroughly nice man. |

Seriously, it would be fun to meet up somewhere. But I haven't made up my mind yet whether I'm going or not. I absolutely don't care about any other act that's coming so far, I'm hoping for more acts especially Dinosaur Jr since they will be in the neighborhood too. Will there be more acts, or is it just the ones that have beeen announced last week? |
added: magik markers, my cat is an alien, paul labrecque... it's starting to get pretty damn good now. i wonder if paul labrecque will be playing with the magik markers or maybe even dream/aktion unit?

hm, i really wanted to think about making a little trip to the netherlands...great line-up, one of the best line-ups in years i think.... too bad SY are playing there on the 15th, i gotta perform with a band at a lame Emergenza festival that day, i'm already missing out on some SY action the 11th and 12th for fucks sake..ohwell..i'll get over it.
btw: it's great to see 'some' belgian stuff on there too (me being such a patriot 'n stuff fo' sho'..heh), i saw the Sedan vault a while ago here in belgium..great band, watch out for 'em. |

Your habbit of firing off dozens of questions every other post is going to give someone a nervous breakdown someday, young man. I rarely go to Het Paard... Since they re-opened after renovation about 3 years ago (they were closed for 4 years!) I've only been there about 2-3 times... for Comets on Fire, Charalambides and last year's state-x new forms. The venue itself looks pretty good now (the old place surely didn't), but they just rarely seem to book anything interesting. |
