Human Animal

Anyone pickup the new Wolf Eyes album yet?

I just ordered the LP, looking forward to it.
I already have The Driller 12" single that came out earlier this year and it is really good, so I am defiantly looking forward to this one

Everyneurotic 10.10.2006 08:49 PM

i downloaded it

it starts kinda slow, river slaughter-ish, the picks up by the middle. it's a real return to form.

uhh what form?

Everyneurotic 10.10.2006 09:04 PM

good noisy classic wolf eyes form, of course.

...after all those half assed crappy releases of late.

HaydenAsche 10.10.2006 09:23 PM

Sweet. I'll pick it up soon if it's good. River Slaughter and Burned Mind were shitty.

Dead Hills remains amazing.

Inhuman 10.10.2006 09:25 PM

Can't wait to pick it up. My friend is sending me a few tracks from it. Apparently it's excellent but doesn't match up to Burned Mind

HaydenAsche 10.10.2006 09:27 PM

Burned Mind was a snoozefest save for Stabbed in the Face.

Everyneurotic 10.10.2006 09:28 PM

burned mind mostly sucks, it's them trying to be smegma with electronics...it's an acquired taste at best.

whorefrost 10.11.2006 04:28 AM

burned mind is a classic... i think it's safe to say that if you don't dig on burned mind and river slaughter, human animal will probably leave you cold...

Thomas Moronic 10.11.2006 06:04 AM

I love it. They seem more in control of what they're doing nowadays, as opposed to just going crazy with noise for the sake of it, like a lot of noise bands tend to do. Nice.

stabbed in the face 12" and the split-lp with panicsville are the best stuff i've heard from wolf eyes. dead hills was sweet too.

blue sunlover 10.11.2006 08:30 AM

what are you taling about(sorry to ask)

i particularly hate river slaughter and i love human animal.

the best wolf eyes, hands down, is black vomit with anthony braxton.

golden child 10.11.2006 11:01 PM

ive been wanting river slaughter, but its quite expensive everywhere i look.

Everyneurotic 10.11.2006 11:14 PM

waste of money, avoid it like the plague.

Yea ive heard good things about this. It seemed like such an unlikely collabaration though

noisemachine 10.13.2006 01:17 PM

I got Human Animal yesterday and Im listening to it for the first time right now. Pretty cool stuff. Its the first full album from them that I have heard. The only other exposure Ive previously had to them was the Stabbed in the Face recording and seeing them open for SY.

I like how Human Animal has a lot of cool atmospheric tracks mixed in with the more abrasive ones. I like it and like all good records it will probably grow on me as I listen to it more.

HaydenAsche 10.13.2006 01:26 PM

I'll be record shopping tomorrow and I'll look for it.

The split with Panicsville is also called "Stabbed in the Face." The cover is excellent!

I heard a promo copy of Burned Mind a few months ago, but it was very striking. I think it's somewhat short too... short sweet and concise. Very well put together.

atsonicpark 10.15.2006 08:14 AM

Dug it. Some of their best shit.

His label, Nihilist Records has tons of awesome forthcoming shit, including a Kevin Drumm/John Wiese collaboration, a Mhlest LP, a Runzelstirn/Dave Phillips/Sudden Infant box set, a collaboration with Irr. App. (Ext), and more...

I am interested in hearing more Panicsvilel stuff...any recommendations? I heard one track on a sonic protest comp and it was totally unexpected and great. But it wasn't noise at all.....it was pretty poppy actually. And not just poppy for something you expect to be harsh but actually...well, not poppy perhaps but a nice song. Something I could imagine my mum being at least able to comprehend and maybe even like a bit. Actually, I think it wasn't on that sonic protest comp but something else.

I dig the new album.
I'm going to see them on Friday and Saturday.
the cover of "noise not music" on the cd version of "human animal" is pretty great.
Have you all heard the wolf eyes/andrew wk "fortune dove 12" ?

Trasher02 10.15.2006 01:38 PM

Haven't heard it yet.
Sounds interesting though.

whorefrost 10.15.2006 05:01 PM

Just listened to Human Animal. Fucking Fantastic. Lots of eerie electronic shit, really well produced. A worthy sequel to Burned Mind. Will post more after a few more high volume spins...

drrrtyboots 10.15.2006 05:21 PM

Got it a little while ago, deffinitely better than burned mind and dare i say more accessible by far.

faggot mangler 10.15.2006 06:48 PM

i dunno

the funny thing is that it's not so much because they collaborate onstage (at peak moments, you can't really hear anthony) but because wolf eyes are on fucking fire.
