probably a mustang or a jazzmaster and a mustang bass. i think i am going to buy a lap steel soon.

k-krack 10.23.2006 02:54 PM

baritone jag.
twelve string danelectro

GeneticKiss 10.23.2006 04:19 PM

Pretty much every guitar ever invented, except perhaps Les Pauls. Too heavy.

Cantankerous 10.23.2006 04:19 PM

i hate les pauls.

RIPfrey05 10.23.2006 04:20 PM

I want something with an aluminum neck.

Savage Clone 10.23.2006 04:22 PM

I'm not fond of the Les Paul either, though I do love a heavy guitar.
The Les Paul studio model isn't bad though; it has a cutout on the backside for your ribcage and is much more comfortable than the standard.
Narita from High Rise has a double cutaway Les Paul Special that I like too. I like it because it sounds great and doesn't have that standard Les Paul body shape, which has never appealed to me much.

Cantankerous 10.23.2006 04:23 PM

have you ever played a lucite guitar? holy fuck, those are heavy.

gmku 10.23.2006 04:24 PM

I want one of Keef's. Any of em. S'long's it's from Keef.

Cantankerous 10.23.2006 04:25 PM

i don't know if i could tolerate the smell of burning heroin embedded into the wood.

Savage Clone 10.23.2006 04:25 PM

Those lucite things are super heavy. And pretty funny-looking.

I would like to have these:

National resonator (preferably the green kind; I hate that super-shiny nickel finish)
Gibson Firebird
Any nice but affordable baritone
Rickenbacker 12 string 335

i've never seen that.
i think it was blue originally but the laquer has yellowed due to aging making it look green.

Phlegmscope 10.23.2006 04:41 PM

If I ever get motivated and buy an electric guitar, the price will be what matters to me, therefore it's probably one of those squiers (jagmaster), or maybe a hagström or something. I have no interest in expensive shit as I have no skills to play the notes properly. With my current acoustic (which, according to my guitar playing friend, is "untuneable") I'm not able to even execute barré chords, no matter where I put my finger or how hard I press the strings.

gmku 10.23.2006 04:44 PM

I've always had trouble with barre chords on my acoustic too--and I have one with very good "action," a Taylor, which is considered very "playable" in that regard. I've devised ways to play around that--I've made up weird fingerings and alternate tunings and so on, just to avoid playing barre chords. Keith Richards said once that guitar players are nothing if not lazy; I've taken that as my inspiration and always look for the easy way out of a chord problem.

Savage Clone 10.23.2006 04:44 PM

Even Hagstroms are starting to be expensive now. I can't believe it! Not just the nice ones like the Swede either; I have even seen prices going up on the plastic ones!

gmku, if you have a Taylor, I'm surprised you have any issues at all with your guitar! Those things are nice.

Danny Himself 10.23.2006 04:48 PM

I want that old blue and white hotrodded Duo-Sonic SY used to have.

king_buzzo 10.23.2006 04:48 PM

i just saw the new swede and it looks really bad. i love lll though, i wish i had one

Cantankerous 10.23.2006 04:50 PM

i'm so lazy when it comes to chords. i mostly favor minor chords as they don't require a fuck of a lot of effort and they kind of resonate.

gmku 10.23.2006 04:51 PM

Mine is my baby and my one true love. A 1994 710 with abolone in the fret board and around the soundhole. I adore it, truly. I just think I'm lazy when it comes to barre chords, plus I don't think they sound as nice as more open chords on any acoustic.

Savage Clone 10.23.2006 04:52 PM

I mostly favor minor keys in general because they sound less sappy and anthemic than majors.
Edit:

gmku's guitar sounds very VERY nice.

Cantankerous 10.23.2006 04:52 PM

that too.

It is. I just wish I were a guitar player more worthy of it. I'm completely self-taught, and I suck. But in spite of sucking, I still have fun.

Cantankerous 10.23.2006 04:56 PM

i also tend to favor shitty guitars. shitty guitars and minor chords.
rock the fuck on.

No way man!
You're looking at it all wrong.
For the big fakeout press-sheet bio style puff-up, you refer to yourself as an "autodidact with a unique and personal vision and style."

gmku 10.23.2006 04:58 PM

That's the ticket!

Cantankerous 10.23.2006 04:59 PM

i'd like to think i do pretty fucking good for the lack of effort i put in.

gmku 10.23.2006 05:00 PM

I wouldn't play if it took effort. The hell with that.

Cantankerous 10.23.2006 05:01 PM

i don't play leads either. to hell with THAT.

gmku 10.23.2006 05:03 PM

To hell with it ALL. I just like to sit with my arms around it and smoke a fag and play nothing at all.

Danny Himself 10.23.2006 05:26 PM

I make up chords. Way easier.

I want that 12-string Lee is using on tour now. The thing with the onboard electronics. Fuck yeah.

that's my job.

Norma J 10.23.2006 06:39 PM

US Jazzmaster. Tele Deluxe. But give me any guitar as I'm a guitaraholic.

LittlePuppetBoy 10.23.2006 06:51 PM

RickenBacker Bass
or the vintage Thunderbird (like Mike Watt's)

Jico 10.23.2006 07:17 PM

a klein. why not?

GeneticKiss 10.24.2006 12:31 AM

Becuz they're possibly the most hideous guitars ever designed, perhaps?

My feelings are similar with Les Pauls. I can't stand the regular fancy burst ones, but the Specials are alright. I had a yellow double cutaway les paul for a while until I traded it in for a P Bass. I miss it...the P90s on it were noisy but sounded awesome.
