Best albums of the 60's
I've been spinnin' nothing but 60's jams lately, so how about a thread on them?
Here's a few: 13th Floor Elevators - Easter Everywhere Beatles - Rubber Soul Blue Cheer - Vincebus Eruptum The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan/Highway 61 Revisted Creedence Clearwater Revival - Willy & The Poor Boys VU & Nico (duh) Red Krayolas - Parable of Arable Land (the birth of noise-rock?) There's more, so name 'em. |
i goofed - sorry.
|
anything by 13th Floor Elevators ranks highly... the VU records. "Copperfields" and "Wheatstraw Suite" by the Dillards. stuff by the Byrds, the Beatles, Gram PArsons/Burritto Bros. Iggy and the Stooges. Can / Amon Duul / Ash Ra Temple.

Tim Buckley - Happy sad, Blue afternoon
Leonard Cohen - Songs of Leonard Cohen Van Morrison - Astral weeks Scott Walker - Scott 4 The Beach Boys - Pet sounds |
my copy says 1970, but wiki and all music guide say 1969.
|
My other faves have been mentioned, but add these...
The Outsiders "CQ" (the Dutch band, not the Cleveland one-hit wonders) Kim Fowley, Jr. "Good Clean Fun" Albert Ayler "Spiritual Unity" and especially... Ruth White "Flowers of Evil" |
there's too many...although I used to have a top twenty list made that accidentaly got trashed with a folder that contained many other lists.
|
Really? Trout Mask Replica 1970? Well....ok scratch that one, should have looked on my vinyl, thought it was 1969.
Jandek anyone? Did any of his stuff come out in the 60's, or am I way off on that one? |
A Love Supreme, Ascension
