Cheap-ish Fender Jazzmaster

I found this browsing ebay, as usual. I thought you guys might be interested. At the time I posted this, the guitar was going for 75 pounds. Bargain.

jon boy 11.05.2006 12:43 PM

hhhmmmm i am usualy wary of anything good going cheap. maybe thats just my sinical nature but good luck anyhow. i bet it ends uo going for a huge amount.

noisemachine 11.05.2006 01:17 PM

I've always wanted a Jazzmaster, and this one looks pretty nice. I'm tempted to bid on it, but like jon boy I am always skeptical of anything thats seems too cheap to be true. Although Im sure the price will go way up in the days before the auction ends.

king_buzzo 11.05.2006 02:17 PM

i cant decide between a frecking jaguar or a jazzmaster

Tough call but i'd say jazzmaster, sqwalls like a baby and plays like a goddess.

king_buzzo 11.05.2006 03:46 PM

yeah, but you gotta love that warm surf jaguar sound

CHOUT 11.05.2006 03:52 PM

jazzmasters have a 'warmer' sound than a jag.

king_buzzo 11.05.2006 03:53 PM

do they still have that punchy sound?

Very much so. The japanese are a little too punchy for me but the american reissues are perfect.

Rovetu 11.05.2006 04:15 PM

fuck buy it fast!!!!!!!

i dont know. does it still sound like some kind of a single coil or does the p90 kill that flat sound?

drrrtyboots 11.05.2006 04:20 PM

Well, what are you trying to play? It gives me the sound i love, makes lots of noise and feedback or some pretty melodies, whatever.

Cantankerous 11.05.2006 04:20 PM

let me guess: grunge.
grunge as a genre is nothing but gross oversimplification at the media's fault.

king_buzzo 11.05.2006 04:22 PM

im looking for dinosaur jr cleans/fuzz and mudhoney fuzz sounds. i would also like it to have some sustain too which i think the jazz is better at. yeah, lots of feedback too

edit: catanky, no im not trying to play grunge because grunge sucks. it never even existed and its waay overrated. if you like so call it alternative

Rovetu 11.05.2006 04:23 PM

what if that jazzmaster is a mofified guitar that was stolen on OC in 99??

:D

A perfect instrument then through the right amp or pedals. Of course, play a jag and a jazzmaster first seeing as thats the golden rule.

Only a Big Muff can give you that, the guitar just helps a bit...

thank you captain obvious. the term alternative bothers me as well -- an alternative to what? an alternative to good music?

Kind of but I've played through shit practice amps before and have gotten some of the nicest sounding fuzz through a jazzmaster. But a big muff would help.

king_buzzo 11.05.2006 04:26 PM

yeah. i dont know if ill be able to try them both out because they run out quickly in the store.

which geetar is noisier though jag or jazz?

Once again, all a matter of what you run it through but a jazzmaster imo.

At the time it was fitting becuz the norm was shit like Poison and Warrant.

Nowdays, of course, it's meaningless, but the media hangs onto it as a description of the general sound.

no, i have it and i cant get any of those sounds. mascis uses older versions and and his sound comes mostly from his marshalls.
i cant get a steady mudhoney sound either.

exactly, but the term isn't relevant anymore. we've fucking seen everything already.
WELCOME TO AMERICA.

GeneticKiss 11.05.2006 04:31 PM

I wouldn't say everything, but most of it...

Cantankerous 11.05.2006 04:32 PM

close enough for government work.

king_buzzo 11.05.2006 04:59 PM

king_buzzo 11.05.2006 05:08 PM

okay thanks a lot for your help.

Danny Himself 11.05.2006 06:04 PM

I don't think it's too good to be true. I got my Jazz off of ebay for about 350 pounds.

Norma J 11.05.2006 06:14 PM

I'm gonna splurge soon and buy another guitar. I've always wanted a Jazzmaster or a Mustang (or a Jagstang), but I think I'm gonna get a Tele Deluxe as one of them has been on my wish list for some time now, too.

Danny Himself 11.05.2006 06:27 PM

I was considering getting this Jazz myself, but then it occurred to me- why should I have two? I am not Thurston Moore, a man who wipes his ass with '62 Jazzmasters. I'm looking to get a Fender Cyclone next.

SonikJesus 11.05.2006 06:43 PM

I'd get it but it only ships to the UK.
