They are great through Wish You Were Here. My favorite is Meddle but overall, they were best pre-Gilmour with Barrett.

gmku 11.11.2006 05:11 PM

They never did much for me.

cryptowonderdruginvogue 11.11.2006 05:31 PM

my favorite band.

meddle is my favorite album at the moment.
saucerful and piper are gems.
ummagumma was... interesting.
wish you were here was pimpin
animals gets old sometimes
darkside is a classic
the wall is awesome when in the mood
dont know how i feel about their post-wall shit
actually, i kinda hate it...
but yeah, i love pfloyd

nomadicfollower 11.11.2006 06:10 PM

Sometimes, and I mean sometimes. They're a good band, but to me, not very entertaining. I guess more of a band you've got to pay alot of attention to.

sometimes, and this is why.

Glice 11.11.2006 06:45 PM

Where is the 'cunt the fuck off' option?

m^a(t)h 11.11.2006 11:11 PM

i really only like their stuff up to meddle,i must say that the "Live at Pompeii" Video is truly amazing.

wax 11.12.2006 01:36 AM

after syd......no thanks.
piper is one of my all time faves.

sonicl 11.12.2006 02:53 AM

After Waters quit, definitely no thanks. And I'm pretty ambivalent about a lot of The Wall and Dark Side too, but Wish You Were Here and most pre-Wall stuff definitely turns me on.

couldnt have put it better myself. i own only one album and thats piper, not botherd and cant get into any other floyd album.

Trasher02 11.12.2006 04:37 AM

I like them but I never took the time to get into them.

blue sunlover 11.12.2006 06:18 AM

there is a music video with pictures of volcanoerruptions and a statue.that video made me feel uncompfortable.i saw it a few months ago.the wall made me feel bad too.i saw it many years ago.i think pink floyd is an evil band, i
don 't know if there exists worse.

sun city girl 11.12.2006 08:35 AM

yes, although they have some bad stuff too... but i even like the wall.

and syd barrett is god!

Everyneurotic 11.12.2006 11:35 AM

my favorite is right after syd went nuts but before they went stadium soft rock, whoever likes sonic youth and doesn't like stuff like "saucerful of secrets" or "atom heart mother" is full of shit. that said, i don't mind stadium rock floyd yet i hardly listen to it, and barrett floyd is very good but i can't listen to piper more than once every two weeks.

I agree. That's an awesome video.
Piper is my fav.

EMMAh 11.12.2006 12:40 PM

They're alright, way over rated though.

porkmarras 11.12.2006 12:40 PM

Syd Barrett-era Pink Floyd are as good as any but the rest i was never really able to get into as much as i'd like to.I respect a lot of the stuff that they have done but i only appreciate bits and bobs.Check this out Glice:
Blixa was once quoted as saying that the Floyd are one of the most underrated avantgarde bands ever.

Hehe. Brilliant. It's probably easier to appreciate their particular brand of English whimsy if you're not English. Same case with the Incredible String Band, who are brilliant at times, but so very, very appaling at times.

krastian 11.13.2006 01:09 AM

Nick Mason doesn't get enough recognition.....he rules.

cryptowonderdruginvogue 11.13.2006 01:14 AM

atom heart mother ftw
cant believe i forgot about that album

Savage Clone 11.13.2006 05:38 AM

Up to but most definitely not including Dark Side Of The Moon, some of my favorite music ever. From Dark Side on, they are dead to me.

yeah, atom heart mother is really underrated, definitely the best thing they've done without syd.

Washing Machine 11.13.2006 01:49 PM

I love Syd Barrett but Roger Waters is one of my heros! Pink Floyd is one of my all time favourite bands

1) Dark Side of the Moon
2) Wish You Were Here
3) Animals (incredably underated)
4) Piper at the Gates of Dawn
5) The Wall (although the concept is so breathtaking, Orwell would have killed for it, it doesn't do much for me musically)

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 11.13.2006 02:58 PM

Yes- but only the Waters and Barret stuff.

I love Dark Side of the Moon. One of the most coherent albums ever made.

The wall is great with the whole concept as Washing Machine said- but I feel that it could have been much more coherent in the way that Dark Side was.

arthritis2600 11.13.2006 03:09 PM

Up to Dark Side Of The Moon they remain invincible.

sun city girl 11.13.2006 04:11 PM

without thinking much (i may have forgotten something):

1. the piper at the gates of dawn
2. atom heart mother
3. a saucerful of secrets
4. meddle
5. the dark side of the moon
6. the wall
7. more
8. wish you were here
9. ummagumma
10. obscured by clouds

Tokolosh 11.13.2006 04:34 PM

animals?

m^a(t)h 11.13.2006 05:01 PM

some of radiohead's stuff really reminds me of animals, which is cool , but of course animals its not as good

Yeah for Me Dark Side and Daydream Nation are 2 of the most cohesive records ever made. Its one of those rare records in popular music that sounds like a 'piece' in the same way a Concerto or a Symphony does, as opposed to a collection of separate pieces. The Songs on Dark Side are more movements than songs. Thats the genius of Roger Waters era Pink Floyd. Its incredable that Syd (as much as i adore his work) got to become such an icon among the indie kids for being shambolic and Waters and co got slack for working their arses off for months in the studio, producing a wonderfully complex and beautiful piece and deservingly becoming very successful. Its something i've never quite gotten about hipsters actually.....

zedius 11.14.2006 01:02 PM

I really like pink floyd. I like post Barret floyd better than Barret, but I like it all.

In 8th grade I was obsessed with them after hearing Dark Side Of The Moon. Very very good band

EyeballGrowth 11.15.2006 10:32 PM

I love Pink Floyd, they are fantastic. Wish you were Here is my favorite, followed by Dark Side of the Moon and Atom Heart Mother. Atom Heart Mother isn't that great but I love the title track. What is Saucerful of Secrets like?

Too bad they'll never tour again because Waters and Gilmour are such egomaniac pretentious british fucks

finding nobody 11.15.2006 10:46 PM

Haha! I was just reminded of the time I got Ummagumma for Christmas and I expected it to sound just like Dark Side. I fuckin hated it. I like it now though

RdTv 11.15.2006 11:13 PM

definetly yes...and my top 3 albums are:

Atom Heart Mother
Meddle
Ummagumma

RdTv 11.15.2006 11:15 PM

hehee.....My dad bought the new Gilmour album and it sounded just like something off DSOTM....suprise suprise!
