Arroz con Pollo, 1981
by Jean-Michel Basquait

Some of my own real paintings were on that level, as for ArtRage stuff haha...you can't be serious.

sonicl 11.23.2006 12:12 PM

Happy Thanksgiving indeed. Enjoy your feasts.

Pookie 11.23.2006 12:13 PM

Happy Thanksgiving! Enjoy your mushy peas.

9 hungry folks drew a cooked Butterball turkey

5 had their turkey saying "eat me!" ... but

6 had the turkey protest "don't eat me!"

17 turkeys were gobble, gobble-ing

8 wore a hat

6 found themselves with a few more legs than you might expect

21 wished a Happy Thanksgiving

108 were "left handed" ... 72 were "right handed" ... although I counted freehand-drawn hands too, and wasn't very exact about how I chose some of the blobbier ones.

I was serious! In the same style anyway...

atari 2600 11.23.2006 12:37 PM

Thank you, I was being self-deprecating.

Picasso, Rauschenberg and Basquait are my three biggest influences.

is it just me or does thanksgiving seem totaly pointless?

Пятхъдесят Шест 11.23.2006 12:39 PM

You know, I'm sure we'll have turkey too, but my family is really into the lamb on holidays. I wonder, how many of you have lamb too?

Explain?

Sort of. I like the idea behind it, but all it means now, is food food food. Which is very American.

Your remark made me think of how I did this drawing in jail once very similar to 'Arroz con Pollo' before I had ever seen Basquiat's painting. It was called 'Junk Offering' and had a settler figure offering trinkets to a Native.
I tried to make one like it in ArtRage awhile back and it looked like crud, so I didn't post it.

Пятхъдесят Шест 11.23.2006 12:55 PM

I happen to like most of my family, so this isn't a problem.

For more on this check the World Music thread's last post, by yours truly.

atari 2600 11.23.2006 12:58 PM

nice satire

reminisces about things to be thankful for...
Also while in jail, I made a perfect replica of Raphael's 'St. George and the Dragon' from a tiny little black & white reproduction in a book (I think I found the picture in a copy of The Book of the Courtier by Castiglione), and I did it with a pencil that was about an inch long that I scavenged from the floor. Of course, I had no pencil sharpener, or eraser for that matter.
