New Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds
|
I was excited, but having heard We No Who U R, I'm afraid I fear the worst.

I'll be seeing them on February 19 in Mexico City. Looking forward to it.

I don't know, I kind of like this song. Maybe because I just did a partial Twin Peaks marathon last night, but I really like the feel of it :) |
I personally like the feel of the artwork.
|
-Cave is one of those very few artists who have never made an album where at the end I say, "Well, that was an utter waste of 45 minutes."
-That said, DIG LAZARUS was the most boring Bad Seeds album. This must be an improvement. -This'll be the first post-Mick Harvey album, right? -If the tunes suck, I look forward to the lyrics. Or vice versa. Or I look forward to hearing how Cave's voice currently sounds. There's always something worth hanging onto on a Bad Seeds album. -And, of course, I'm looking forward to a tour. |
Fuck. Never mind the tour. I see that most of the handful of US dates have sold out already, fucking three months in advance.

If this is boring I think listener should watch in the mirror: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lyGivD8aJi4 And this rocks much more than so called "rock" bands like Guns & Roses: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=scTcx60CVG0 |
I'm pretty god damn excited about this one. I've never complained about a Nick Cave album. Even his soundtracks are great. Lawless less so than ...Jesse James. But a full tilt Bad Seeds release is always something to look forward to.

i wish he kept grinderman around a little longer

Really? I dunno. They ok I guess. On each album there were probably 3 or 4 great songs. After that it goes it *shoulder shrug* area. But I'm hella glad that the Bad Seeds are back. Been waaayyy too long. |

i love nick cave obviously. my stupid forum name here is from a birthday party song and I even have a stupid tattoo (my first and still only) that says "release the bats" with bats flying around. real dumb. i was young.

Yours is actually my favorite SYG username, just to let you know, and this does not sound that bad. In all honesty, there is no way your "stupid youth" tattoo is dumber than mine. Mine is so dumb that I refuse to even begin talking about it. The kind of tattoo you have to go to great lengths to hide for the rest of your life, no matter who you're with, or what setting you're in. My tattoo would get me an asswhooping at a junior high. Seriously. At least yours represents TBP/Nick Cave, which is badass. |
hahaah
|
Seriously, I'll trade your Nick Cave tat for my Nick Carter tat. What the fuck was I thinking?

Ummm they're playing coachella? So are the bad seeds. So..... |
Been listening to this a lot and it's the best Cave LP since "No more shall we part". Makes me think about The National and Arab Strap. A mean grower....Well done!
|
Can't wait for the live recordings to start popping up. Year after year, no matter what the recent album sounds like, the live shows are (almost) always worth a listen.
But then, I'm American. Believe it or not, I can, if I choose, go through the rest of my American life without ever hearing a Nick Cave song. But I understand if people in other countries might be sick of him by now. |
One doesn't get sick of Nick Cave, Nick Cave gets sick of you.
|
Ha! True. "Fuck all y'all. I'm gonna go write a novel."
|
The album does not disappoint.
|
Finally got this! (Iīve have had problems with vinyl ordering, first I ordered the version where was also 7", then the store said it was out of print, then I ordered ordinary version, after many weeks it was also out of print! Then last monday I ordered it from another store and it came today!)
After first listening I already love it! The some songs reminds me Nocturama, some No More Shall We Part, some Boatmenīs Call, but the arrangements are totally different, so I can say this Cave album he never done before! I really love that here-after-atmosphere thatīs in the vinyl, also those warm seventies-feeling sounds are just great! BTW did someone got the version with 7"? |
I'm still holding off on hearing the album, but I have started to download recent shows and the new stuff sounds great. Moody, good words.
|
I AMgoing through life not hearing a Nick Cave song.

I'll cope.

The album is too short. My only real complaint.

Too true. |
I saw him live at Massey Hall (Toronto) on this tour. set worked really well, as he split it between the new album and older, raunchier songs. stagger lee in particular was fantastic. I honestly don't think the bad seeds will ever end

if making a ton of money, releasing great music and writing decent films is boring, then sure. making us, the most borings cunt in the face of the universe. |
Here he is at Cochella with a small orchestra. You know what kinda sucks, though? I look at the "Bad Seeds," and for the most part, I'm like, "Who the fuck are these people?"
Then again, I guess early fans from FROM HERE looked at the LET LOVE IN band and thought the same. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nF3EY6argyM EDIT: On second thought, the new band really does kind suck. No oomph. The guitars are especially weak. They're not giving Cave what he needs, which is barely-contained insanity. |
I just bought ticket to Flow-festival on friday...and to my big suprise there is also Blixa! What a great summer of 2013!
Itīs true there is lesser guitar in todayīs bad seeds, because only one who play it in the album is Warren Ellis (I really liked also heīs playing although he really isnīt Harvey or Blixa). In album it doesnīt bother me at all, but of course it can be different in the live situation. I havenīt watched any of live performances and I believe I will not watch before that Flow gig. |
Warren Ellis is incredible and I wont let a bad word be said about him.
|
It's this "Ed Kuepper" guy.
Listening to shows from DIG LAZ DIG tour, I thought something was off with the guitars. Same with the new shows. It's this guy, I figured out. I mean, it's not like he's total shit. I just don't think he belongs in this band. He detracts more than he contributes. Blixa can play only a few notes and be perfect. This guy can play through the whole song and add nothing. That's all. A weird complaint, I guess. |
