NFL playoff brackets
|
Admittedly, I don't keep up with the NFL.
But I would love to see the Chargers win the superbowl. Though I don't know Philip, Steve Rivers is a good friend (and old neighbor) of my grandparents. Ironically, he lives on the river and I've been fishing off of his pier many times. |
That's cool. I'm a big Chargers fan from way back. They've been my favorite NFL team since Dan Fouts headed the "Air Coryell" offense with Charlie Joiner, Kellen Winslow and Rolf Benirschke back in the '80s.
I do wish the Packers would have gotten a shot. I'd like to see San Diego and New Orleans in the Super Bowl. The Eagles seem to me to be the best team in the NFC, but, hey, that's this week. The Giants might just start putting it together, so could the Saints or even the Cowboys possibly. The Seahawks are already putting it together, but it's too little, too late in their case. Chicago could very well go all the way as well; bear in mind (hehe) that what were seeing tonight is a lot of non-starters mixed-in with the starters. |
saints all the way, baby.
|
SD are my stompin grounds, encinitas represenT!!!! So im for the chargers, but as a long time chargers fan, i know how they tend to choke, but things could be different this year. Philip Rivers is a bit shakey, but with michael turner and LT, they are hard to stop. There defense is very solid especially against the run, sometimes the secondary sucks balls, but as long as marriman and co brind da pressure, I think the bolts are gonna be tough to beat.

Yes, I made a few changes. This is the original bracket... ![]() I don't know who the hell to pick, it just seemed like this http://sportsline.com/nfl/playoffrace/bracket might be a fun idea for a thread (since we usually do the NCAA bracket for March Madness). The Jets are coming on, but they have to go through Foxboro, which upon further contemplation, caused me to pick against them. |
Partying on New Year's Eve maybe?
I gotta get out soon. I've been good all day about not drinking. |
my bracket on the NFC side is the exact opposite (or it was)
![]() Larry Johnson is gonna tear the Indy rush defense to shreds, i hope Seattle now in the postseason will turn some heads |
eff that shit. the saints are going to make history in '07.
|
i was holding back on my "who dat?"s, b/c i didn't think anyone on the board would appreciate it. but since you started it...
WHO DAT?!?!?!?!?(even though we lost today, that was for play) |
I think it could be CHargers/Eagles in the Superbowl, although from who's there I'd like to see Saints/Chiefs. I don't get as much chance to follow it as our American boardies, though, so I wouldn't trust my predictions.
The Rams started and finished well this year, but the extended ba pach in the middle did for us. Still, there's cause for hope due to a selection of very good team nd individual performances, and on that basis I may as well put the logo up: ![]() |

I breathed a big sigh of relief when Denver was eliminated yesterday. Actually, you raise a good point, because, personally, I'm more concerned about Kansas City somehow rallying all the way to the AFC Championship game to spoil the Chargers' chances than I am about the threats posed by any other team in the AFC. Thank goodness that the Chiefs have to play the Colts at home. |
i know it won't be easy, but this is the best season they've ever had and it's fucking nuts over here for us. we say "saints all the way!" every season, but this time, everyone's actually serious about that shit.
do you live in lake charles? |
okay. a good buddy of mine is from there. ever heard of the cocker spaniels?
|
yeah. it's 1 guy who, until october, was living in beaumont. he's in austin now, though.
what's the music scene like there? |
AFC Championship
Ravens vs. Chargers......Ravens win NFC Championship Saints vs. Bears........Saints Win Super Bowl Champions RAVENS The Ravens are a bit of a homer pick, but they already proved that they can contain LT and beat the Chargers. Also, I trust McNair and his WR's over Rivers and his WR's. Both defenses are pretty beast and if I had to give a slight edge to one I'd go with the more experienced Ravens here too. I think that the Saints will beat the Bears mainly because Grossman (I'm guessing he's still starting?) is killing his team with turnovers.....I also look for some big time Reggie Bush magic during the game. All in all I think that the Ravens D will be a little bit to much for the Saints pretty impressive offense and the Ravens steady offense with Billick calling the plays should lead to another Championship in Charm City. Oh and RIP Darrent Williams.....he was one of my DB's in Rob's league and the same age as me....craziness. |
The Ravens were anemic on offense against the Chargers, who controlled most of the game you alluded to, krastian.
If Merriman would have just grappled Heap instead of trying to jack him up, then the Ravens' fourth quarter comeback would have been snuffed and they would have lost that game. The Ravens could still definitely win though in the AFC Championship game if that's how it goes down and those teams find themselves facing each other again. I still think the Chargers will beat them though in all likelihood. The Pats (or Jets for that matter) may just take the Chargers out anyway. If Kansas City somehow manages to emerge as a championship contender, then they will, in all probability, defeat the Chargers and whoever the NFC throws at them too. Everyone knows that the Colts Run D is weak, but I still think they'll (thankfully) take care of KC. The NFC is much tougher to pick. I really think that every team has a shot. I think I may have to go back to my original bracket with the Eagles going to the Super Bowl. |
Oh shit
the new SI has Garcia on the cover... the sports illustrated cover jinx might fuck me |

no way, man. the saints are gonna eat the ravens' anuses out with pleasure...in a good way...no homo. |
...oh and these guys and I have the same Wild Card Weekend picks...
|
Looks like it's just me & you, pantophobia. Scoring is 1 point, 2 points, 5 points, with 10 pts for picking the Super Bowl Winner for a maximum of 32 points total possible.
I was going to offer some prize(s), but since no one else is playing, fuck it... |
i didn't realize i was in a rumble
so the brackets stay the same even if the teams we picked in the super bowl don't even make? or do we reevaluate every week? |
same bracket...
there's a maximum of 4 points to be scored this weekend... 1 point for each correct pick \ next weekend divisionals 2 points for ea with max 8 championship weekend 5 points each for a max of 10 super bowl...10 points for picking the winner 32 points possible |
make it three...krastian and i are of identical minds.

cool
I'm starting to wonder if Baltimore will make it past Indy if the Colts win today. Of course, the Colts may lose today and then my conjecture is shot to shit. ... |
so i think we may safely say the tony romo love affair in big D is over.
|
Didn't you, like I did, just have a feeling something was going to go wrong with that snap?
Nice calls today, jenn. |
yeah, i saw it coming, but then Romo almost could have run it in himself and got really scared
i was most scared when Alexander came up limping after that first down got them out of the end zone, but he came back in so that was good and well, here's a math equation Larry Johnson 32 yds rushing = Me fucking up on the pick |
considering the way the cowboys had limped into the postseason, i had
the overwhelming vibe they would not only lose, but lose in a legendary fashion. i was watching as they lined up the attempt--19 yards!--and thinking, "this won't go through." i couldn't say WHAT would happen (block, botched snap, plain old miss) but i knew something would happen. it's the 2006 dallas cowboys. yeah, how 'bout them. romo was this close to getting fresh downs, too, when he picked up the bungled snap and ran with it. (not to mention a touchdown.) have to give seattle credit for clutch tackling/tripping. more than made up for the ennui fest that was kc vs. indy. |

It would have been very sweet to instead get a matchup with the Jets to avenge them for beating the Chargers in OT in the wildcard game a couple of seasons ago.
I'm afraid for "my" Chargers, but have hope still. Their defense pounded the Pats last year. The Giants roared forth early and Feagles is a badass (at his position), but the Eagles dominated that one for the most part. Two penalties in the third quarter that cost them a ten-point differential ended up making it really close. Akers came through as he is wont to do! Tiki played well in his farewell, but the Giants just didn't get it done. Plaxico Burress was finally was able to demonstrate what he can do to change a game if given the opportunity. Shockey lifting up Coughlin's headset was hysterical. |
Fuck a' Cowboy.
|
..cheerleader.
|
i pick the um..New Jersey.um..the New Jersey K.Smiths to win!
|
Even though I picked Baltimore in the bracket, I want to declare for the record that I'm picking Indianapolis in an upset.
I'm probably putting too much stock in them playing like they did last week at home against the Chiefs, but that's what I'm going with. After all, in that game, Manning threw three interceptions for turnovers and was still able to win. The Ravens offense has more of a big play/deep threat than KC's "solid" running game (which as we know was surprisingly shut-down by the Colts last week), but overall, the Ravens O isn't any more threatening than the Chiefs', probably less so. Although the Ravens D is a proven powerhouse, I think Manning and Co. with weather the storm and probably win by a field goal on the sure foot of Vinatieri. It's too bad I picked the Ravens in my bracket. Saints/Eagles is really too close to call. It just depends on which team wants it more. I'm relying on Reid's playoff experience and that of his veteran defenders to take care of those amazing Saints. --- It's obvious enough that the Chargers have their work cut out for them even though they are playing at home. It's especially worrisome to see Chargers players all over television last week. With any execution, the Chargers D should be able to transform the unflappable Tom Brady into playing more like how people who have their doubts about San Diego are expecting Rivers to play. If, (and it's a substantial "if") the Chargers can avoid beating themselves then they should win this game by more than five points. The Bears will come together and beat the Seahawks. I'm the most sure about this particular game. |
You all should've bet some money on the Colts like I told you to do.;)
--- Eagles CB Lito Sheppard is injured...man, I don't know...it's going to be a good one. --- It's 14-13 Eagles at the half. The Eagles need a solid third quarter. They had a shaky 3rd quarter performance last week against the Giants where they nearly beat themselves with penalties. --- Well, my bracket is shot to shit now. I changed it, and I should have went with the second version. The Saints are in like a cool Brees! |
What a great weekend of football!!! All the games were pretty intense and a lot of fun to watch.
I think the Ravens really shot themselves in the foot.....a fucking turnover at the one? You have to capitalize on that shit. Tom Brady= this generation's Joe Montana I'll be rooting for my third favorite team to win it all.....the Saints. Redskins in 2007......sike. |
the bears cannot win the super bowl. it simply cannot happen. i will
boycott the entire city of chicago. the vikings fan in me cries out to new orleans to deliver vicarious justice. cannot believe the chargers lost...oh wait, marty schottenheimer's the coach, of course i can. |
