Decent hand claps on a record
As usual,i have a really lazy brain to remind myself of some .I really like the hand claps on Elastica's 'Connection' but that is the only thing that came up to my mind right now.
|
Hey Mickey. Most solo percussion records are required to have handclaps (I'll up some tabla with handclapping later if I can find the track). Common People by Pulp. There was some on one of Timberkins records, wasn't there?
|
akron/family do it quite well on "Shoes" on their s/t.
|
OK, I'm going tp be flippant and not very useful here but:
Steve Reich - Clapping Music. |
Is there some clapping in The Clash's "Rock The Casbah"?
Or The Cure's "Close to Me"? |
It's not on record, and you may not think it decent, but here's a clip of The Fall performing 'Blindness' on Jools Holland's show. At the start of the clip is the very end of a Robert Plant performance with what seems to be some very considered and serious clapping.

Mickey is based on a cheer, of course, and the whole percussion is clapping and a bass drum.
Give Peace a Chance from the Montreal bed-in famously has clapping in the singalong style. Laurie Anderson uses samples of hand claps on many songs, perhaps most notably on Big Science. During her concert film, Home of the Brave, she wears a percussive suit she designed that's programmed to play various samples...right down to a cymbals/high-hat thing when she presses forefinger to thumb. Led Zeppelin has the clapping on songs like Black Country Woman, Boogie with Stu and Bron-y-Aur Stomp. The Beatles, The Kinks, and The Replacements have a few. The Chickasaw Muddpuppies employed lots of hand-clapping and stomping using a stomp board. Other percussive elements include things like "popcorn" drums and a washboard. Recently, Beck and his band have done lots of found percussion, including clapping, of course. Their Clap Hands is not a Waits cover. |
queen - we will rock you :D
|
I meant to write Queen...We Will Rock You ...legendary clapping and stomping. There's also some clapping (minor by comparison) during the bridge of Bohemian Rhapsody, right?
My brain gets all jumbled as I write, but as I was formulating my thoughts Queen did drift in (& then out)...ack./..I'm always remembering extra things that cause me to go on tangents, but often the tangents cause me to forget what I originally was going to write. ack..just ignore all that...other people have a similar problem sometimes, no doubt./ |
dunno about queen, but the gypsy kings have a lot of clapping too... definitely something for porky.
|
Fuck off.Both of you.

I love it. Did you get the KCRW performance? They rocked Nausea on Letterman with Borat and the SNL one killed. Clap Hands on SNL was surely something to see. The puppets are fun. There's been some silly stuff on the tour with the puppets too. |
Doesn't Mr. Roboto have some hand claps? Nevermind, I don't think it does on second thought.
I know Too Much Time on My Hands does. Excuse me, excuse me... |
haha hey mickey was a good reference:D ,
and what about: in the navy - the village people (perhaps too obvious for ya pork hehe) hahaha :p ---- well, the first thing i remembered is this guy from my hometown, david fonseca, and his song "the 80's" because it was choosen as the main theme for the vodafone commercials, so we hear it everytime we turn the tv on. http://myspace.com/davidfonseca "the 80's" |

Anyone else seen John Otway (I think) doing a brilliantly terrible comedy song with a similar percussive suit? Edit: I've found it on Youtube. Who'd've thunk it? He seems to have incorporated a theramin into the joke now. Terrible sound, but you get the idea. John Otway |
Is there any actual clapping on "The Clapping Song" by the Belle Stars (previously by someone else, but I don't know who)?
