looking for good hip hop

hello dudes
i want to listen to some good hip hop that would be somehow akin to Cannibal Ox. I want my hip hop to be pretty threatening and serious.
You can suggest one/two/three LPs at a time as i won't be able to check out millions of acts (that one was for Adam and the rocket scientists crew...).
You can also tell me more about Cannibal Ox side projects and solo stuff. i'm a total noob.
Thank you very much for yr attention.
I want me some good hip hop, nigga.
biatch.
GO!

Check Dizzee Rascal, he's my favorite MC - the one that introduced me to hip hop actually

nicfit 10.03.2008 10:33 AM

El-P

noisereductions 10.03.2008 10:35 AM

As stated above, you'd dig Deltron 3030 for sure.

And El-P's FANTASTIC DAMAGE (he produced CanOx).

And um... how about the first Dr. Octagon album?

greedrex 10.03.2008 10:36 AM

gotta check Deltron
I know and own some E-LP ; good stuff, thx Nic

greedrex 10.03.2008 10:37 AM

yeah i also own the first Octagon CD...

Are futuristic samples that rare in hip hop?

jimbrim 10.03.2008 10:37 AM

If you're looking for something threatening check out Immortal Technique, Mobb Deep, El-P and Kool Keith.

Also, a lot of grime is serious and threatening, but it depends if grime is your thing.

greedrex 10.03.2008 10:40 AM

dunno what you mean by grime..
duh

SYRFox 10.03.2008 10:42 AM

Grime RULES. Check Dizzee Rascal for sure! He rules.

By the way, jim: TARAKO!

greedrex 10.03.2008 10:47 AM

nicfit 10.03.2008 10:50 AM

StevOK 10.03.2008 10:50 AM

J Dilla, Louis Logic, and Saul Williams are the only hip-hop/rap artists that I have branched out and liked. Any more suggestions?
