Favorite Venue
Simple, just name the venue you like to see a show in the most.
The Orange Peel, Asheville, NC I've seen Sonic Youth & Dinosaur Jr there. -sidebar- Why don't we make a request tour for SY from all the responses posted. (sounds interesting, doesn't it?) |
Probably the Black Cat in DC if I had to pick.
|
What groups have you seen there Krastian?
|
Damn.....a lot! Hmmm.....Blonde Redhead a bunch of times, ATDI/Murder City Devils/Les Savy Fav, Toadies, Modest Mouse, The Shins, a bunch more that I can't remember right now!
|
The London Astoria - seen tuns of bands play here
Camden Koko (knickers off, knockers out) - where i saw Melvins, Mudhoney, Dinosaur, etc..... London is great for gigs :p |
Lucky you. The Melivns & Mudhoney shows must have been outstanding.
I was going to see the Melvins at a small club here in Knoxville, but it turned out to be another rumor of the Melvins coming to this shite town, or as Iggy would say, "Butt Town". (ha ha) |
Anymore venue suggestions for this request tour we're putting together for SY?
So far we have; The Orange Peel Black Cat Camden Koko |
the packhorse pub in leeds
the brudenell social club in leeds ausland in berlin the basement of numerous houses. |
the orange peel is cool... i saw black dice open for godspeed you black emperor, black dice was way cooler. I saw animal collective there last month, and i'm going to see sonic youth there too.
but i think my favorite venue is the 40 watt. |
BLACK CAT BLACK CAT BLACK CAT BLACK CAT BLACK CAT BLACK CAT
"What kind of music do they play here?" "Indie rock." |
I like the Aragon in Chicago. It's big enough not to be cramped, but it has a "cozy" atmosphere.

nature scene:
The Orange Peel is the best small venue in the southeast, in my opinion. There's just something about that personal feel you get w/ the group. It's like, it's more of a rehearsal, than a performance. O.K so now the list is; The Orange Peel, Ashevile NC Black Cat, Was., DC 40 Watt, (???) Aragon, Chicago Camden Koko, London The Spitz, London Ausland, Berlin P.S. This is my fault, I should have reitterated that we'll need to know the location of said venue. I'm sorry, my fault. |
Clwb Ifor Bach in Cardiff. The downstairs bit anyway...
The Looking Glass in Leicester. Music Cafe in Leicester. The Point in Cardiff. The Spitz in London seemed nice but I've only been there once. |
I should add that I like Roisin's in Galway, but it is far too small for any 'major' shows.
|
List is updated above. (^^)
|
The Royal Festival Hall - London
The Garage - London Koko - London |
I've only been to the 9:30 Club and it was alright. I can't really judge because I have nothing to judge it to. It's better than my school's auditorium. Heh.
|
Alright, this will be the last London show on the list. But keep giving your opinions on your favorite London venues.
Sonic Youth The Ripped Up Sound Tour: The Orange Peel, Asheville, NC Black Cat, Was.,DC 40 (???) Aragon, Chicago Camden Koko, London The Spitz, London The Royal Festival Hall, London Ausland, Berlin |
yeah the Spitz is a lovely venue. They always seem to have nice people at the bar too.
|
One of the worst in london has to be the Hope and Anchor on Upper Street. If it's packed it feels like being trapped into a shoebox
