Sonic Youth Helps Out Wooden Wand
Dig it...:D
http://www.aversion.com/news/news_ar...m?news_id=8118 Wooden Wand's found new allies with Sonic Youth. The band inked a deal with Ecstatic Peace, the label ran by the Sonic Youth singer/guitarist Thurston Moore, and will further strengthen ties to the Youth, calling on the band's guitarist Lee Renaldo to produce the effort, while Sonic drummer Steve Shelley sits behind the kit for the band's label debut, James and the Quiet. Sonic Youth bassist Kim Gordon's nowhere to be found, though. James and the Quiet hits stores May 15. Its track listing is: The Pushers In A Bucket Spitting At The Cameras Delia We Must Also Love The Thieves The Invisible Children Blood Blessed Damnation Future Dream James and The Quiet Wired to the Sky |

I saw Wooden Wand at the benefit in Northampton, and I was bored to tears. The guitar was so-so, boring folk. The lyrics were rather asinine and the guys singing style really bugged me too. WHen he said that that particular performance was stripped down compared to what they normally play, I was intrigued to see if their normal sets were any better. I checked out their myspace page (I only go on their for the music, I swear!) and found that they do indeed sound much better with the full ensemble. But they were still nothing to be too excited about. Better, but not great. Just Good.

Lee did a great job of recording it, though.
