come on guys. The doors were the inspiration for so many bands to take their lyrical and musical content down the DARK SIDE. they never used a bass player, just manzarek on two keys and a guitarist and a drummer. and their songs are amazing.

I fully FULLY agree tht Jim Morrisson's poetry is doggerel, drivel, baudelaire wanna-be tripe. Fully agreee. I have hated it as long as I have been a fan of the doors (which is a loooong time). BUT, his shit poetry makes great lyrics.

I will always enjoy the Doors music. 4 dudes, tripping out hardcore.

The other thing is, they didn't mean to be taken seriously. If you don't get that most of what the Doors did was one big put-on, you miss what they were about.
