lester used to describe the seeds, ? mark, the count five, etc. as punk. when in '76, people started to ask him for quotes about the new genre punk, he thought they were referring to garage bands of the 60's.

Well, they aren't and that's because Allen Klein refuses to give permission to reissue any of the original recordings and refused '96 Tears' to be included on the Nuggets compilations or the box set. Still, they remain one of those bands that easily should be on them.

the video is crummy cos there is no original so somebody put together a slide show. but being from 1964, this even precedes the sonics' "strychnine"...

(the lyrics btw talk about tearing up/demolishing the train station, ha ha)

I'd say the Sonics from seattle were the first punk like band, way more so than question mark.
