i have no idea... dunno much about it, just curious to see how many people are scientologist on here.

No. The guy who started scientology back in 19-whenever used to be a sci-fi writer, and when asked about it he said something to the likes of I don't do it for the money; if I really wanted to make money, I would start a religion. Then, a few years later, he starts a religion. A sort of "Sci-Fi" religion, if you will. It's clear he started this thing for the money. Why would you believe and follow something if you know that it is made up?

Yes, I'm a Scientologist.

Through my experience with Scientology, and with what the media "says" Scientology is, I have a very good understanding of both sides. However, I believe that what is true for me is true. I have found that Scientology has helped me greatly, and I believe it will continue to do so.

i read a scientology magazine a few months back that was delivered to my house, i figure the person who lived here before was a scientologist, anyway there seemed to be no quarms about the term brain washing and this was bandied about quite frequently within the magazine as if it was a good thing......................

I think one of L Rons books was about a guy who started a phony religion wasn't it?

He was obviously a bit of a con merchant. He was involved in occult stuff with Jack Parsons, one of the guys who worked at the JPL with Werner Von Braun et al, and went into business with him. Only he ripped him off, ran off with the woman he was living with and used the money to publish Dianetics. The whole religion is based on fraud.

i got approached by a scientologist in the street today, she was doing a questionaire to try and rope people in, i was kind of curious to take it but i didn't have time, not that i'd consider becoming a scientologist but i just wanted to see how she would try and trick me.

I just started attending meetings of the Society of Friends - the Quakers.
So far they rock.
1 - they didn't ask me for money
2 - at the meeting we talked about politics and social issues
3 - they are vehement pacifists
4 - they haven't shoved Jesus down my throat

Thanks for the links, I never heard of Xenu before. The more unbelievable it is the more people believe in it apparently.

I've read extensively about scientology and I think some of the initial auditing might be useful to smoe people, in the same sense psychoanalysis or confession is. But it does seem to be a shell game in that once you pass one level suddenly there is a whole other (and more expensive) level to get through. My understanding is those people on the street are trying to earn credit so they can undergo the higher level auditing. Do not underestimate this very well funded, very intelligent international group.
