Kim Gordon sits in for Iggy Pop on BBC 6 Music
https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000gvyt
Kim Gordon sits in this week after a storming set at the 6 Music Festival in Camden last month. Expect tracks by The Fall, Missy Elliott, My Bloody Valentine and Nina Simone. Kim released the album No Home Record late last year to rave reviews. It's her first solo album in a 38-year music career that was largely spent as a key component of New York's Sonic Youth. |
Nice. I have that get_iPlayer software to capture these BBC programs... I have to remember how to use it though!

Alright, I did remember how to use it (actually, I had it "written down" :)) and got this bad gal for posterity. I promise to upload it before we're all dead, so watch this space. |
OK you degenerates:
BBC Radio 6 Music: Kim Gordon (sitting in for Iggy Pop), April 03, 2020 Captured with get_iplayer set at "best", so I guess this 96kbps m4a is as good as one can grab it from the site (feel free to correct me). As I type, the BBC page says there are "27 days left to listen" directly from it, so this is for those of you who want to keep it once it has been taken out of the AlGoreWebs. Music played (this list is on the m4a's comment field and on the info txt file): The Fall - "Gut Of The Quantifier" Nina Simone - "Suzanne" Alice Coltrane - "Journey In Satchidananda [feat. Pharoah Sanders]" The Stooges - "Ann" DNA - "Blonde Red Head" J Mascis - "See You At The Movies" Heron Oblivion - "Your Hollows" Missy Elliott - "Work It" PJ Harvey - "Shame" Gold Dime - "Hindsight" Television - "Venus" Talk Normal - "In A Strange Land" Neil Young & Crazy Horse - "Cortez The Killer" Brigitte Fontaine - "Le Goudron" Eleanor Friedberger - "I Won't Fall Apart On You Tonight" Linda Ronstadt - "Different Drum" Stina Nordenstam - "Purple Rain" Aimee Mann - "Save Me" Nas - "N.Y. State Of Mind" Nico - "It Was A Pleasure Then" Karen Dalton - "Something On Your Mind" My Bloody Valentine - "When You Sleep" Islaja - "Laivat Saapuu" Mazzy Star - "Fade Into You" Abbey Lincoln - "Straight Ahead" Cardi B - "Bodak Yellow" Charli XCX - "Shake It [feat. Big Freedia, Brooke Candy, Pabllo Vittar & cupcakKe]" Patty Waters - "You Thrill Me" |
hehe, Cardi B...
thanks! |
Superb mix of the obvious and the interesting.

I actually had to look her up. And I still haven't heard her music. Or that Charli chick's. This contemporary pop (contempopop? contempt for pop?) seems rather stoopid to me. |
Cardi rules...

I listened to this live. The hip hop tracks ruined what was otherwise a good mix.
