Any Good Bars in Berlin?
 

I know a couple of people here are based there and wondered if they or anyone else could recommend any good bars. Nothing too trendy or touristy, just good places to check out.

I'm gonna be staying in the Freidrichshain/Kreuzberg area.

I went to a couple of good ones in Kreuzberg. There was one just down Oranienstrasse from Gorlitzer U bahn station. Also, by the river in Kreuzberg there are a couple of river bars which are outdoors and might be open by now. They were when I went last year around the beginning of May.

Friedrichshain is loaded with them but I was only walking through that area really, I didn't to to any there.

prenzlauer berg there are hundreds. get off at eberswalder strasse and walk around the streets there (my favourite is there)

friedrichshain - frankfurter tor there are more bars than you can shake a stick at.

kreuzberg - mehringdam u bahn and go down and around bergmanstrasse.

also on oranienstrasse near kotbuser tor u bahn is very nice indeed.

avoid the west, its terrible and hackescher markt is very touristy and full of prostitutes.

streets to go down - kastainen allee, boxhagener strasse, bergmanstrasse, oranien strasse, papelallee, helmhol platz, simon dach strasse etc etc.

basically all the good bars are ones that sway doesnt go too.
