"I was there" - legendary gigs, clubs and events.
In this month's issue of "Uncut" magazine, there's a short article about the legendary London acid house club "Shoom". Now, I certainly wasn't here, but it got me to thinking - have any boardies attended an event, club etc which later gained a status of legend and/or notoriety? Stuff like Sonic Youth playing on Brighton Beach for example...

I was there for a Sonic Youth/The Jesus Lizard show...hehe.
Um, I was at the inaugural show for the 40 Watt's (Athens, GA) current location (which has proven to be its most permanent location), so maybe that will qualify. I also went to many shows at two of the other previous incarnations of that club. The very first show at the 40 Watt's Washington St. address in the revamped Potter's House Flea Market building in Athens was Hovercraft/My Bloody Valentine/Dinosaur, Jr. To this day, many people still maintain it was the loudest show that they have ever attended. |
Went to the 'legendary' Shoom lots of times.
Swans at the T&C Club when the wall cracked. |
I played a legendary show. Well it is legendary among my friends. Mainly because it was my first show and I started playing punk that turned into straight up noise rock and I sang a song about wanting to "shoot pimps taxi driver style". I was opening for a surf band. Good times.

I saw this band called Ascension who once supported Huggy Bear at the Bull and Gate in London, and managed to clear a room of 200 people in about 5 seconds flat. I was pretty much one of the only people left.

I shot Dimebag Darrell!

Hahaha...
Thank you! |
I was at Terrastock 1...
EDIT: This was ten years ago to the day. Like exactly ten years ago. Weird. |
Who played at Terrastock 1? I remember there being lots of talk about it.

Just remembered - me and demonrail666 were at the first ever Boredoms show in the UK. What a great night that was.
|
Well I saw Big Black reunite briefly, but so did loads of other people.
