Question for people who went to ATP

My friend told me that she saw Alan Vega playing, and his 7 year old son played harmonica with him. If anyone saw this and has an audio recording or video, you'd make two people really happy. Thanks.

Try this...

I love you, thanks so much. Nice to see you on here again.

I'm very pleased to be of service... I have a real soft spot for Alan Vega... the new album is pretty terrible in places... but I still love him.

Do you think so?

Saw him live 2 weeks ago, i was probably the only one who enjoyed it, haha.

Hi there Nefeli... I hope that everything is fine and dandy for you this morning...

I haven't heard the new album, is it really worth getting? How many songs would you say are good on it? My friend told that he was really good at ATP.

I find myself cringing a lot of the time when I listen to his music... but in a good way, if that makes any sense, as I always return for another listen... thats the beauty of it 'cause I think he is a member of an exclusive group of artists who genuinely try to push things, cross boundaries, and say something with their music... this is a risky business and I admire people who have the courage to try it.

I've heard the new album a couple of times, and I would say that there is definitely enough material on there that would make it worth buying... especially a track called Crime Street Cree. My only reservation is that sometimes the music is a little weak and descends into cheesy techno pastiche in places... and is nowhere near as focussed as his collaboration with Pan Sonic for example.

but who knows I might end up really loving it in a couple of months...

Apologies for deviating very slightly off topic, but is the Vega / Pan Sonic CD any good?

sarramkrop 05.10.2007 04:22 AM

It's really good, highly recommended from me, and thanks again Toxic Johnny for the insightful post. Alan Vega is indeed a fascinating musician.

Echoing Porky... it is one of my favourite Vega releases.
