Mission Of Burma- The Obliterati
I dont see this record discussed much anywhere. I only listened to it once last year but I pulled it out again and have fallen in love with it.It really grew on me.Mission Of Burma really bring back that edgy experimental side to them with this record.
I think this one is the better of the two new releases by them. They really get back into their own style."spider's web" has that great soaring trippy solo and gnashing chords."1001 Pleasant Dreams" has that great heavy feel to it."careening with conviction" has one of the best bass lines wire never used and that closer "nancy reagan's head" is fantastic ! Anyone else think this is the best record they released since Vs? "and im haunted by the freakish sounds of nancy reagan's head" |
I fucking love this album. I don't know if I like this or OnOffOn better, cause I do love them both.
The intro to "Good Not Great" is so heavy and so awesome, that might be my favorite song on the record. Anyway, Mission of Burma are right up there in my list of 'bands I must see live'. They're one of my very favorite bands. |
i was very disappointed with the obliterati. i pulled it out again recently and still it doesnt cut the mustard with me. onoffon is much better and neither can compare to vs, thats a different era...........

Yes, mos def. This record is great. I listen to it at least once a week. Much better than ONoffON, imo. And, better still, there are still copies of the 8x12" ep subscription series floating around out there. I saw one recently for 30$ at Siren Records in PA. |
I like it, but not as much as Vs. or Signals, Calls, and Marches. It is about on the same level as ONoffON for me.
