What should they be thinking about their fans?

I know I'd be all "cool, thanks for listening" and that would be about it... unless you're a close acquaintance of some kind.

have they ever thanked their fans in an album sleeve?, i just don't feel like they like us very much, and in comparison with a band like the flaming lips who obviously love their fans to pieces its doesn't seem very friendly.

But on the up side, theyre not the Flaming Lips

i LOVE the flaming lips, they are happy and friendly and fun, and they write great music.

I feel sorry for Daniel Johns from Silverchair. Talented guy but shit fans. Well fans who don't generally like good art. But I guess that's their fault for promoting themselves the way they do.

I agree with half of what you said, but they stopped writing good music from the soft bulletin on.

I think Sonic Youth appreciate us, but I don't think they'd go out of their way to show it.

Yeah, they are very shy, reserved, they're not expansive...

It would probably be quite weird for them If they read some of the threads on here. The 'worst country' and 'Jimi Hendrix' ones would probably make them wonder what it is about their music that has attracted such a bunch of argumentative retards.
