Heckles.
 

There's an article in The Word this month about audience heckling.

It reminded me of two of my favourites:

The first was Eric (son of Kirk) Douglas's failed attempts at a career as a stand-up comedian. During one particularly difficult set, in exasperation he said to the audience, "I'm Kirk Douglas's son!", to which an audience member shouted back, "No, I'm Kirk Douglas's son"...

The second was Bono at live aid (?), who started to slowly click his fingers. After a few seconds he said, "Every time I click my fingers, a child in Africa dies". The reply from the audience was inevitable: "Well stop doing it then!"

Don't know how true/accurate either of these are mind.

Haha...both are brilliant.

Generally, hecklers are cunts but sometimes comments need to be made as in the two examples above. I hope they're both true, especially the Bono one.

sometimes they are good and make me laugh but generally they are quite annoying. one time springs to mind, a nina nastasia gig in leeds at an old theatre and it was very quiet in between songs except for one guy who just kept shouting and shouting how much he loved nina and how attractive she was. everyone was embarrassed for him because it was so drop dead awful. thing is he was sat right behind me and a lot of people though it was me! the looks i got man, jeez.

This was supposedly directed at Manning himself:

"Where the fuck are you going ?" said Manning to an audience member who'd got up from his table mid-set.

"I'm just off for a pint before the comedian comes on", quipped the punter.

To a frankly appaling speed metal band in a parochial backwater, "Your music owes an awful lot to the Stereophonics".
