What are Your Social Causes?
Which social issues bug you the most when they get ignored?
Mine would be the working class getting screwed over and over. Homelessness, as well. |
Animal Rights is my focus as animals have no voice. It's an issue easily fixed, but we as humans have things backwards and therefore the easy task of ending the cruelty seems so far away, unfortunately.
Although injustice is injustice and I play no part in whatever injustice you care to name. I don't prioritise so to speak. |
Taxes.

I've never been good at prioritizing social injustices. Something always comes up (usually the news' favor of the month) and it reminds me of all the other shit. Next thing you know I'm pissed off and cynical again.
I guess political corruption is what angers me the most... but again, that describes mostly everything. |
Global Warming (society killing itself for convenience). Like fuck, it's 38 degrees Celcius out and we're blazing hot, and my sister and stepdad are whining about the heat when they're the one's that only drive. I hate the bullshit people pull "oh, I need a car to get to work, I live far". Well move closer. And if you can't, find another job. Most people think that's going overboard, but it's what the world needs.

I'm very concerned about the erosion of our basic rights here in the United States. I'm a big fan of little things like Habeus Corpus and the Constitution.
|
POPULATION CONTROL.
Vasectomies and tubal ligations for all! |
housing
I used to squat and still believe in it, with certain obvious reservations. Although I no longer do it. |
social causes always seem like an excuse to get in other people's faces while claiming moral superiority.

At the risk of coming off like Angelina Jolie I think its quite admirable that she is using her fame to put the spotlight on Darfur. My knowledge of it is quite elementary, just reading a article here and there or watching a news broadcast, but sounds like nothing less then ethinc cleansing, and to think the collective WE like to say after "The Holocaust" never again, but the world has ignored the masscare and ethinc cleansing of that area, and its quite dispicable to say the least.

fat cats, tax breaks for the rich, immigration and the right wing press, ignorance and arrogance towards others, the environment and the fact that we are destroying the world we live in, animal rights, the 'war on terror' and its implications, the stripping away of human rights, aids, the fact that i cant get laid cause everyone is dead.
having said that i dont take it so seriously that it ruins my life. i guess those are some of my social clauses. i dont actively preach to anyone nor do i expect anyone to change their mind but those are things that concern me. |
There are many, but local volunteering is a good one. Reading books with inner city kids gives you a chance to directly affect someone in a positive way.

That more people should buy Big Star albums.

The number of excuses people have to legitimise/excuse immoral behaviour.
Animal rights. Waste of tax money. Bigotry. Homelessness. A lack of accountability. |

yes i pay taxes in new mexico you glutton. i pay them happily. i get roads and public infrastructure, schools for the kids, cops, firefighters, some measure of social services (unfortunately not enough) and other benefits of living in what's called a community, like a wonderful public library. i'd happily pay more if we could get some universal health insurance, some public arts center in my town, some after-school programs for kids, and some treatment for the alkies. no problem. i'd rather pay taxes than buy a twatty, useless, sorry iphone. |
