The cofffee shop thread.
Where is your favourite coffee shop in your town/city/wherever, and what sort of coffee do you usually order there?
|
Starbucks, because they sell records too.
|
I have no favourite coffee shop where I live, but my favourite place generally is an organic cafe in the back of a bookshop in Twickenham, because their coffee is rich and their cakes are delicious. If there's no nice-looking independent place to go to, I prefer Cafe Nero of the chains. I always order a strong black coffee.

am sonntag in august, berlin. shit service but best people watching place in the city. they have a bed too if you feel like taking a nap.
|
With you on Caffe Nero, sonicl. There's a great Italian coffee place between Greek Street and Frith Street in Soho, which has a lovely atmosphere and does a spiffing cappucino.
|
The only coffee shops I've been in are Cafe Neros in London and Starbucks in Seattle. I don't drink coffee but if I want a muffin or a sonic youth record I'll go right in.
|
I miss the cafes in San Francisco greatly, nothing in NYC compares.
|
Caffiene in Norwalk, CT
Slave To The Grind in Bronxville(?), NY The Black Sheep in Amherst, MA |

Java House
It's a bit on the pretentious and Yuppie side, but damn they make some good coffee. And it's locally and independently owned. Plus they've got a second store in the local book store. That's the one I usually go to. |
Caffe Nero because it has the best coffee. There's one where I live, and another where I work.
And there used to be a Caffe Nero concession in a bookshop I used to work in. We used to get a lot of the unsold cakes at the end of the day. I'm easily pleased! |
Nice buns are very important, don't you think?

There's nothing better to sink your teeth into when you're feeling the urge. |
Aye, nice creamy buns.

I don't drink Coffee but my favourite places to have a cup of tea in Cardiff are:
The tearooms in the Church on The Hayes (70p a mug and ace cakes) Chapter Arts centre - because it's only 60p a mug. My favourite might be Truffles, pictured below. ![]() ![]() Reasonable value and the soup of the day is always good, sometimes great. |
Also worthy of mention is the Cafe in the Crypt under the church between Trafalgar Square and Charing Cross station. The one that does candlelit concerts. The coffee's nothing special, but I love the room.
