Random thoughts (I are serious thread)

There is no such thing as a friend
The only people that I can rely on is my family
I'm the kind of person who has a new best friend a year or two later
Why?
I get bored
I don't really blame them, it's not their fault
I like to keep a lot of my "friends" around for my own personal fulfillment
I enjoy the company of others and I enjoy meeting new people
I like making small talk
Especially with random strangers, or the clerk at the store
Oh, and lets not forget the doctors and dentists secretary
"Wow, I cant believe how great the weather has been these past couple of days"
"Yeah, I know, i took my kid to the park the other day. He had a lot of fun playing with the other kids"
"Boy or girl?"
"I have a little boy"
"Oh, that is cute. How old is he?"
"He is 5"
"They grow up so fast..."
"Tell me about it... So, how does Thursday October 27th sound?"
"That sounds great"
"Is 9am okay?"
"Ah.. a tad early, but thats no problem"
"Like to sleep in? haha"
"Yes... yes, haha... I'm a bit lazy"
"Okay, you're all set sir"
"Thank you! I'll see you later"
"Have a good day"
"you too"

mm... am i an asshole?

Norma J 07.11.2007 05:36 AM

Probably not.

You seem ok to me. Although I didn't read it all.

A Thousand Threads 07.11.2007 05:38 AM

Is there really such a thing as asshole?

It's all subjective

I feel very uncomfortable making small talk, and consequently can be quite unsociable, especially when dealing with new people.

pbradley 07.11.2007 05:59 AM

Are you sure you're only 22% sociopathic? Lines 1, 3, 5, 7 all suggest otherwise.

Personally, I'm the kind to have a close knit group of friends. Always have. Still close with my high school friends even.

Ditto, I tend to just shut up and stand there when a new person starts hanging out with the group. Eventually, I loosen up and then freak them out with my opinions on everything.

im sure you'd be able to smell yourself...

no?

davenotdead 07.11.2007 06:14 AM

yeah, but isnt it natural that one can always sense their particular odor before everyone else? or am I completely off base here?

pbradley 07.11.2007 06:15 AM

Personally, something in my youth has left me with a relatively strong fear of rejection. I'm the kind of guy that trembles when he asks a girl out. If it weren't for my periodic existential enemas, I probably would never get anything ever done.

cryptowonderdruginvogue 07.11.2007 06:15 AM

bah, whatever.
i'm off to my office, got some new furniture.
really dont feel like painting myself, might get someone to do it for me.
but then again, i could go for some of those paint fumes...
i've been feeling rather... weird... lately.
